two games in a row that we have had to play the opposing team and the refs. The blocking foul on Mo was rediculous! ------------------
I am about as pissed as I have been all year at the refs. Think Mark Cuban might be on to something? The fourth quarter was called as if one or more of the refs had money riding on the game. I feel bad for Steve he played like a mad man but his shot looked just a little off all night. He still managed to put up all star caliber numbers. Anyone still care to argue the greatness of Jason Williams? Someone that looked like him with his number was on the floor, but I think its safe to say that he was for all practicle purposses a no show. I beleive that if the refs call that game fair or if one of our guys could have ever got into a rythm on the perimeter we win. It just burns me up that this game was decided by lousy officiating! ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited January 13, 2001).] [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited January 13, 2001).]
Forget the refs. The Rockets lost because they let the Kings have two offensive rebounds and dunks in one 30 second sequence. Instead of leading by 1 with the ball, they ended up, well, you know what happened. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
Dont forget the missed over the back on Divac when he got that last offensive rebound off a free throw miss by webb. Mo still should have gotten the board though; he didnt really go up to get it. But regardless, we had our chances to win the game. Shandon missed a wide open 3 again (and from the same spot too), Francis missed an 18 footer, Francis missed a free throw, etc. When Christie was down on the floor, Francis should have ran up and stopped at the 3 point line & popped it. The Kings were in disarray on that play & the 3 point line was open. Francis should have recognized that they were gonna foul him & taken that 3 pointer. And what in hell was that last play? How hard is it to just tell Stevie or Cuttino to just bring it up & stop & pop for the 3. Steve's defender wasnt playing real close to Francis... all he had to do was a crossover & pull back for the 3 or something. But good game & we are making some strides. Nice to see Cato. When's that damn trade gonna happen? ------------------ When 1 door closes another 1 open; but we so often look so long & so regretfully on da closed door, that we dont see the ones that be opening for us - alaskanSnowman [This message has been edited by alaskansnowman (edited January 13, 2001).]
man MO, u know hes gettin more rebounds and all, but he still goes out onto tha floor w/out a rebounders mentality. hes gettin more of tha rebounds that are rite next to him, but he still isnt makin that extra effort for tha board. hes alwayz flat footed, and for us to make progress, he needs to work on that. and that last play............. ------------------ Lookin at a 75 year old man in a thong: NASTY Lookin at Shaq hit free throws: "O SH**!"
I agree all the way trick. Mo's making progress, but he's still got a ways to go before becoming the good rebounder that he needs to become in order to be one of the premier pf's in the league. I mean, he played 41 minutes today, but only got 7 boards. Maybe it's because Francis, Cat, & Shandon take all of the boards. But if Mo would run after the board & get up there & SNAG it... if he did that all the time, he'd be averagin 10 boards a game. ------------------ When 1 door closes another 1 open; but we so often look so long & so regretfully on da closed door, that we dont see the ones that be opening for us - alaskanSnowman
tha hoe hit tha puru rite on tha head, mo needs to work on that game mentality along w/ the reboundin skillz ------------------ Lookin at a 75 year old man in a thong: NASTY Lookin at Shaq hit free throws: "O SH**!"
The Rockets did have a chance to win, but everyone has to admit that the refs always seem like they're against us. ------------------
Alaskansnowman, I too would have liked to see Steve just take it but the coaching staff is there for a reason and Steve couldnt just do whatever the hell he wanted to. ------------------
Well i'm not gonna blame this loss on the refs but i do have one thing to complain about as far as the refs go. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT 5 SECOND VIOLATION BS ALL ABOUT?!? Am i the only one that has never seen a ref call someone for the 5 second violation? I forgot they even made that rule, they call ppl for double dribble more then the 5 second call. Maybe that was the refs way of telling mobley to shut the hell up since all he was doing was b****ing about the calls. I hope Cuttino realizes that complaining about bad calls and showing up the refs is only gonna hurt him and his team, the refs are human afterall. ------------------ Never judge a man unless you walk a mile in his shoes, that way when you do judge him, you'll be a mile away and have his shoes. Obviously the refs miss calls in both directions, and tonight wasn't too bad (there were a few illegal Ds they didn't call on the Rocks), but down the stretch, the refs seemed to be anti-rockets. The five-second rule -- I forgot what this was . . . so did Bill and Calvin. It's called the Charles Barkley rule -- HE NEVER GOT CALLED FOR IT!! I've never once seen it called, heard it called, whatever. Plus, I thought the offense had to be set for it to count . . . this was in transition. That over-the back at the end was really bad too. ------------------ "Any answer that can't be questioned is no answer at all. It's gibberish. Jason played great! he did what he was supoosed to do. he's not supoosed to be the man like Francis. Jason has twice as many weapons as francis does so he doesn't have to do it all. if you noticed Jason had 4 asts and no turnovers. he could have easily had 10+ but his teamates didnt make their shots. ------------------
The intent of the 5-second rule is to keep players from standing with their back to the backet in the post area for 5 seconds. The rule was enacted last year. This was the first time I have ever seen it called and Mobley was 18 feet away and NOT backing it in. He clearly did not violate the intent of the rule. ------------------
Yeah I have to agree with you....Jason played great. Thats why Rick Adleman kept him on the bench almost the whole 4th quarter when the game was so close. When it really mattered Bobby Jackson was on the floor. Here are the great Jason Williams numbers: 1-7 shooting 0-5 from behind the arc 4 boards 4 ast 2 st 2 pts. Yep those are steller numbers. I can definitely see where you think he is all star material. I just can't figure out why he was on the bench in the 4th with the game on the line...was he hurt? He must have been. No coach would leave one of the top point guards in the league on the bench with the game in jeopardy in the 4th. ------------------
I know..how come Jason wasn't on the floor in the 4th? Interesting...and he was throwing up some pretty wild shots too. ------------------
Jackson is new to the Kings. Sacramento is a legitimate post-season contender and Jackson will need experience playing with the first unit in crucial situations. Jason Williams was having a bad game -- un-like the last time Sacramento visited Houston. ------------------ "Breaking up is hard to do...[with] everyone trying to make it a parting befitting all the professionalism that came before. Here's a quiz for you. What do all NBA players have in commen that have a low 'Bang to Hype Ratio' (Bang to Hype would be some one that has supposed greatnes or hype, but just does not play up to the hype)? Answer: Someone willing to make excusses for them. You have provided that for J-Will. ------------------
