I know its not really that important but does anyone know whats going on with Ballpark place, the 36-story tower to be built across Crawford street from left field. It looks cool. I wanna live in one of those condos. That would be a sweet view of the game when the roof is not closed. Hopefully they can get this thing up befor the All-star game rolls into town. That way I could possibly catch a ball hit in the Home Run Derby. But then again, my view would be blocked by a lame promo attempt by Taco Bell, who would hang a giant target on the building that reads " hit it here, everyone in America gets a free taco," like they did at Pac Bell for the World Series. Besides, a construction site as a backdrop for the homerun derby would really suck. Wait a tick, that could kick butt, we could have construction workers like Joe Blow, with his enormous blubbery gut, dancing on what would be the 18 the floor doing the YMCA like the construction workers did in Oakland when they were renovationg the Mausoleum errr... the Oakland-Alameda County, Network Associates, UMAX, whatever else they could think of to call it, Coliseum. :D

they've slowed development citing the slow economy...i don't know if it will be ready by the 2003 all star game...but it definitely is being delayed..

however, i was down there today and saw lots of construction going on around the old world trade center building and the new astros park out in front of the stadium

Funny you mention that WTC... I heard before that Olajuwon has put in a large chunk of change into hat Ballpark Place condo. As well as owning that dump known as the WTC. What happened to the WTC?

I certainly hope that the building doesn't destroy the view of downtown that one has at the ballpark...it's a great backdrop for the game.

This is supposed to be what Bp Place would look like from right field. I dunno if the picture came out right. If you want more info and pics, I found the websitewww.ballparkplace.com its supposed to be ballparkplace. com I dunno if I did this right I am not a computer genius. As for the Houston edition of WTC, it has been bought by Tillman Fertitta who developed and owns the Kemah Boardwalk Landry's Seafood, Joe's Crab Shack, The Rainforest Cafe, The Aquarium, the whole damn world etc..... Apparantly he bought it from Dream, and word is, Dream made a lot of money from that deal. That's why he is so happy to be back in town. Fertitta is transforming the old dump into one of these sheik, swanky botique Hotelsthat will cost a whopping $200 bucks a night. The exterior will look a lot like M&M park, with bricks and steel and all that. What makes this hotel interesting is it will have a baseball theme. Baseball memorbilia will decorate the lobby and baseball themed retail and restuarants will also be in the lobby. It will open its doors in time for the 2003 season. As for the construction out in front of the ballpark on Crawford, soon
to be Volkswagen Street if Drayton decides to sell the naming rights to that too, the Stros'are building a plaza to honor their Hall of Famers. It will feature a regulation size diamond with life sized statues of Biggio flipping the ball to Baggie for a routine ground out. Dugouts will be erected for other plaques of Astros Hall of Famers. What sucks is this historic place which will be used to tell a story of the Astros history like a book is not named Monument Park or Legends Feild like it should be.Drayton sold the naming rights to this soon to be sacred place too. Beginning in 2003, you can find our franchises history, the two statues( their shouldbe a third for Nolan Ryan) and run the bases of the regulation sizediamond at Haliburton Plaza !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gimme a freakin break Drayton !!!! This is our history. What can we expect next Yahoo.com Union Station By the way, the billboard err..... ballpark formally known as Enron will host the 2004 All-Star game. 2003 All-Star game will be in Chi-town's Comiskey Park or soon to be Household Field, if that ridiclous naming rights deal is done by then

looks really out of place... maybe if there were more 30 something story towers surrounding it.. but it looks pretty ugly. the building itself is sweet tho

The World Trade Center development is going to be a hotel. It is the Inn at the Ballpark. It will have a nice steakhouse right next to it, as well. Landry's owner Tilman Fertitta is the person developing this. He bought the site from Hakeem, who I blame for letting it sit empty for a year and look like crap for everybody to see.

Wow, that looks like absolute crap! It shouldn't be so damn tall. It shouldn't be that much taller than the Union Station building.
