Some of you fans seem more of a Yao fan then a Rockets fan. The guy is playing hurt this season, and all you can say is that he sucks and we should trade him an blah blah blah. He is one of our two best players and he should be treated with respect, and not just hating. When he has a poor game its ok to criticize, but not when the guy goes out in the 3rd quarter with an injury. This is rediculous.
Yeah ! How dare people expect him to play while hurting in such an important game. Get well Tmac !! DD
There can't be a balance. If Yao is doing better than T-Mac, T-Mac will be hated. If T-Mac is doing better than Yao, Yao will be hated. They are called fickle bandwagon fans.
These guys are even worse than the Cleveland fans. They booed cuz of a bad performance. These guys boo cuz of injuries? Sad and pathetic so called "fans"
I think people are just tired of seeing him injured all the time. I wish him the best in his recovery but even a hurting McGrady is still the second best player on this team, and an even better decoy than anyone else we could throw out at there to fill his position.
It's somewhat of a myth that he misses games because he's "hurt all the time". If you look at games-per-season played, McGrady still betters many top-name stars in the NBA. This has been an unusual season for the Rockets as far as injuries are concerned. I agree, however, that it's pathetic to criticize a player for something beyond his control, such as injuries are. The thing is though, McGrady has played through injuries, so it's not like he's a sissy or sitting out whenever he scratches a nail. I think anyone who criticizes a player for getting hurt is beyond stupid. Criticizing someone for his play is fair-game, for his injuries? That's when fans show their true colors, during trying times.
Tmac is the leader of this team. If the team is doing well he gets the praise. When the team is slouching he is going to get the verbal beatings. If he didn't want to be the leader of the team then he needs to take a ginormous paycut. We brought him to Houston to be the leader and lead us to a championship. If he can't take the criticism and pressure, we'll find someone else who can. It's just part of the business.
ding ding ding! seriously , how can any of you question who's a fair weather fan or not. the fact is that t-mac's missed a ton of games for ticky tack ****. excluding deaths in the family, play through it Christ. that's what you have a replacement spine for.
I just don't think our best and highest paid player should be missing occasional games like this late in the season with a back problem. It's not like he has a torn ACL. T-Mac needs to change his work-out regimen this summer. He's not even 30 yet, so his back should regain full capability I would think.
Again, that's fair when he CAN PHYSICALLY perform and yet isn't delivering. However, you can't criticize a player for something completely beyond his control like an injury. Now, I understand fans are frustrated and need to vent at times, but it's bush-league to blast someone for getting injured...it's not rational. If we don't want him, fine, we can put him on the market this off-season, and I am sure it will generate plenty of interest around the league, someone will happily take him bad back and all, because he's still a premier player and despite ALL his injuries and Yao's, the team has done pretty well when both were in the lineup at the same time. As for tonight's game, players don't have a say as to whether can play or not, that's the call of the team physicians/trainers, not the player's. But, as I said, I am not surprised, Houston fans (generally speaking) are some of the most fickle fans around. It's not just McGrady, it's Yao at one point and even Hakeem at one point in his career. Well, just my two cents...
May be because he IS hurt? Weird how that works. He has been playing pretty banged up all season long, that hasn't been any secret. In fact, he's been both physically and emotionally 'hobbled' this season. It happens to the best of them, I too am concerned about his health down the line for the next three seasons or so he's under contract with the Rox, but that's a concern almost every team has with their major star players. It's part of life in the NBA, these things happen. The Spurs' fans are pretty worried about Duncan's body starting to break down with injuries for the past couple of seasons now, The Suns are worried about Amare, etc. So as I said, his health is a major concern, no doubt about it. It's up to the team to evaluate what's best for them: to try and trade him this off-season or staying the course hoping he's well enough to at least play 60-odd games a season? If it's the former, we must keep in mind that it's very, very, very difficult to get anything near 'equal value' for a player of T-Mac's caliber, it almost never happens. But that's always an option. But injuries are an accepted part of life in the NBA, his are particularly worrisome because they're "chronic" and can't really be made better by surgery -- it would be great if it was just a disc or something that could be 'fixed' through an operation and thus it wouldn't become a recurring issue.
I don't blame McGrady for not playing - I have no idea how much he's hurting. I am very worried that perhaps he's going to be missing 20-30 games per year, unless he can have some kind of corrective surgery.
its because he cannot play during such a crucial time, if we lose, people will always wonder would have this season be different if he played the times he was out.
Da....take it easy man, I understand the frustration of having TMac hurt and all but you act like he doesn't wanna play, like he got hurt on purpose just so he could sit out. You know if that man could be on the court he would. End of discussion, he's hurt, what has he ever done to make you question him?
