Many of the discussions regarding clearing a max cap slot for LeBron, for Paul George, etc, assume that CP3 will require a max deal himself or something very close to it. But based on what we've seen thus far, in terms of both availability and performance, and considering his age, I think CP3 should be willing to take a significant pay cut to bring in another all-star. And even more so, what team out there is willing and capable of throwing $30 million a year at him? Let's have a look, shall we? Boston - Kyrie Irving Brooklyn - rebuilding New York - rebuilding Philly - Ben Simmons Toronto - Kyle Lowry Chicago - rebuilding Cleveland - way capped out Detroit - Blake Griffin is there Indiana - maybe? Milwaukee - Eric Bledsoe Atlanta - rebuilding Charlotte - rebuilding Miami - not a contender even with CP3 Orlando - rebuilding Washington - John Wall Golden State - Steph Curry Clippers - lol Lakers - maybe? Phoenix - rebuilding Sacramento - rebuilding Dallas - rebuilding Memphis - Mike Conley New Orleans - maybe, but likely capped out San Antonio - maybe, but likely capped out Denver - not a contender even with CP3 Minnesota - maybe, but likely capped out Oklahoma City - Westbrick Portland - Damian Lillard Utah - don't think so All in all, it looks like CP3 can either: Take a max deal with us, but then we can't add anyone else significant; Take a max deal with the Lakers, who can add LeBron or Paul George, but still won't be good enough to beat the Warriors; or Take a huge pay cut with us, then we add another all-star and go toe-to-toe with the Warriors. I'm thinking CP3 will take a large cut in the short term with an under the table promise to be paid large once Ryan Anderson's deal expires. Thoughts?
