Every summer I get more and more anxious to see the Rockets as the season nears. I'm starting to get pumped up now for the Texans. I remember how excited I was before the current Astros season started. What sport is hardest for you to go without? For me, it's easily the NBA, gotta see my Rockets. EDIT: Mean to say NCAA Football instead of basketball...maybe a Mod can change that...
locally it really depends on what that team did in the offseason. After the Pettitte/Clemens signings i couldn't wait for opening day. This year i dying to see TMac/Yao on the floor together. Speaking as a whole though, there is nothing better to me than a Sunday full of football
The NFL has been especially hard to endure for me, especially without a team to follow in the playoffs (since 1993, sadly) making the offseason seem that much longer.
I know I'm in the vast minority on this in America, but I'm just not a big NFL football fan. I rarely watch a game, and when I do, it doesn't often hold my interest. I have no idea why. The NBA offseason is killer for me. I've become a baseball fan over the last 10 years or so just because of the absense of basketball during the summer.
NFL doesn't do it for me anymore. Seems like they play for about 8 seconds, then wait forever ... maybe w/ 2 or 3 commercials, then there's another play. Boring. It improves near the end of the season when the teams are a bit more efficient and there are fewer penalties, but it's quickly approaching MLB for me where only the post-season can interest me at all.
Well basketball is my favorite sport, but the NFL isn't far behind. I give the edge to the NFL because it's offseason is so long. What is it, like 7-8 months?
How can that be for MLB? The reason baseball purists talk about it being a travesty to add more teams to the playoffs is because it would make the regular season mean less. So you should be enthralled with the regular season because "it means something"
I'm NBA first, NFL second and MLB WAY down the list. There is the NBA for most of the NFL offseason, but waiting for basketball sucks. Two things start at the end of October making it the best time of the year: fall and pro hoops.
I'm pretty pump for this year because the Olympic is coming and then the world hockey tournament to look forward to! This year is the best year for sport fans like me. Not like most other years where it's only Baseball and golf or Car Racing which isn't my kind of sport. Football is alright by me but it starts pretty late. My most enjoyable summer sport got to be beach volleyball and hopefully there'll be more of it. Man I wished I still have friends who are into sports because I don't have to suffer the whole summer away.
the rockets usually, but i get more and more pumped about the texans with every passing offseason. i know the stros are only gonna disappoint, so i rarely get that excited, this offseason not withstanding.
NBA by far. i start longing for the first preseason game about a week after the finals end. hell, i like the NBA so much i don't even need my fantasy team to keep me interested like for the first half of the baseball season or pretty much all of the nfl season. the main anticipation for baseball is just opening day, which is by far the best opening day of any of the pro sports, but then after that, outside of managing my fantasy team, i go into baseball hibernation for about 3 months where i just watch baseball tonight to see if the stros won or lost and to get the days stats. the season doesn't start until around august for me. the nfl, i hardly even notice it's about to start. even college football, which has probably been my second favorite sport since i started going to UT, doesn't really have me longing for it until a few weeks before.
