It looks like the old rox with some better bench players.
Is this team better than the 2005 team? That team failed.

The difference is that Adelman is not as as stubborn as JVG. Adelman plays rookies in games and is not scared of mixing line-ups. I think the team is better in the long term.

The Rockets are now playing several players who are only going to get better with more playing time in Brooks, Landry, and Scola. The Rockets won tonight despite Yao being a near non-factor on offense, because the role players can step up.

    The major difference is,

We are not stagnating, we are IMPROVING.

So you are saying that this team won't make the playoffs?

JVG was very stubborn and always screaming his head off to players while adelman is less energetic :D and both have different philosophies in coaching

Anyone have a Xbox or Ps3? We need a basketball game that will allow you to play the 08 Rockets against the 05 to see which one is better.

    3 games

last year Rockets were 30-17 after 47 games, competing for a 4 seed with that record

this year they're 27-20. Which is good enough for 10TH PLACE this season

sadly, there isnt much difference, the offense still goes through alot of dry spells, BUT i think we are better than last year because we have a better bench, and we have added a little bit of speed and athletic ability with brooks and landry. i think it is less likely we would get as poor a performance from our role players as we got in the playoffs last year. just think, even playing as badly as we did last year in the playoffs, we were still right there in game 7 and could have won it. hell, we could have even made it to the WCF last year like utah did. if we stay healthy we should be much better come playoff time, but at the same time the alot of other teams also improved so....

Wow, I didn't know it was that close in records. I think Adelman is doing OK with a new offense.

Adelman is more laid back, a little more tolerant of sloppy play (which can be good and bad). He has a very different offensive philosophy predicated on ball movement and offensive balance. He's experimenting with a deep rotation the past week, but I don't know if he's going to sustain this throughout the rest of the season. Historically, I think he's been a short rotation guy. The coaches almost always shorten their rotation in the playoffs.

That's the real issue. The Rockets have improved with Brooks, Landry and Scola but the rest of the West has gotten much better, coughGasolcough.

Lots of posters here like to say that last year's Rockets would have beaten Utah if they had Scola, Landry and Brooks. Well, that was last year's Utah. That's irrelevant. What matters is this year's Utah, coughKorvercough.

I don't see the Rockets really getting anywhere unless they get the offense straightened out. Yao and T-Mac can't carry the whole freaking team past decent competition. Everybody else needs to step up. How about a few games with five or six guys in double figures?

Unfortunately, those three games could ultimately be the difference between playing in the playoffs and watching them.

I think the Rockets need another star to be able to compete against the tough compete for the title.

    you got big 3s everywhere!

    Duncan Ginobili Parker
    Garnet Allen Pierce
    Kobe Gasol Bynum
    Wallace, Rip, Chauncey
Dirk, Howard, ERIC DAMPIER! (err ok I kid)
