I finally decided to buy one but now cannot find them anywhere. It seems they are taking the 40GB models off the market but have not made a replacement yet? The only one I can find in stock is some of what seems like the older 80GB models with Metal Gear bundle for 500 bucks. Anyone?
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8588584&type=product&id=1190677842792 oh and to the poster above me. I bought my 80gb after it got discontinued. go to the sony store.
Also has anyone found a reliable way to backup your blu-ray movies to the PS3 so that I don't have to keep pulling out the discs to watch it? I love the idea of it being a media center but would like it to be a more functional library. I'm trying to rip my old DVD's to an uncompressed media format that is playable on the PS3 as well. Any recommendations on what utility I can use for that? i tried nero but it seemed to come back with so much background noise and didn't support the surround sound when I converted DVD to mp4.
I believe the 80GB version of the 40GB PS3 is coming out soon. I'd wait until then because then at least you'd get the DualShock3 controller as well. There are also MGS Bundles still floating around from what I"m reading.
yeah the 80GB with MSG bundles are the only ones I can find. I don't need the big HD or that game (or the ability to play PS2) I would prefer the 40GB but all sold out at Wal-Marts. So this is a wireless dual shock controller? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9864376
you should've replied to my message on PSN. Go to Barracks, Enter prestige mode You are now officially, NOT a noob.
I read a rumor that they are discontinuing the 40 gig and dropping the 80 gig a hundred bucks and making it the sole console.
probably true but it is a new 80GB that is basically the 40GB with a HDD upgrade. None of the extras of the old 80GB.
They basically announced that at E3, so not really a rumor. To the OP, that's basically the situation right now. The new 80GB systems will be out in September IIRC. Otherwise, you'll have to get the 80GB bundle or try to find a 40GB PS3. Regarding controllers, all PS3 controllers are wireless. The only difference is whether it is a DualShock 3 or a "regular" Sixaxis controller.
Well can't say I know much about where you guys are but up here in the Northeast, every store that has an electronic section has them. MGS bundles and others
buy the mgs 80 gig bundle, sell or trade in mgs4 for $50 and you'll have a ps3 for 80 gig ps3 for $450. for $50 more you get: +40 gig hd space dual shock 3 memory card reader +85% ps2 backwards compatibility and...if you decide to sell it later, it'll hold it's value better than the 40 gig ps3.
i dont think you could really store too many bluray size files on there unless you had a 2 terabyte back hardrive or something. unless you just mean a couple of movies.
