I join a few groups but everyone there is nearly ready to hit the retirement home. What's going on? Do people my age just not join meetup.com? For that matter, do SINGLE people my age (hell I'd take within 3 decades of me judging by meetup.com) exist on meetup.com? Where can I find groups of people not ready to kick the bucket in the 18-23 year old range. -Travis
What kind of groups are you looking to join? I joined a Business Networking Group and they range from 22-55. I've visited 2-3 others and saw a similar range, but I do agree it trends toward the older end of things.... right where I am!
I also forgot to mention, half the groups don't even "meetup". Thus defeating the purpose of meeting up. I'm so lonely... lol
singles groups would be cool, if there was anyone in the 21-45 age groups I joined NEAR MY AGE. :\ (not to mention it's a complete sausagefest apparently in those groups) and just groups that promote doing new things in houston. like kayaking, watching movies, going to the hidden "gems" of Houston.
Political groups and service organizations use Meetup a lot. I'm in about 4 of them. I've met girls through Meetup, but it was because we had common interest. Meetup is a great tool for that. I suppose you could use it as a hook up tool, but I never have.
That's what I'm debating. Without going into a long list, I'm trying to do the whole build myself up instead of depending on relationships to make me happy. While I'm doing that though, I'm not trying to just say "no girls for 6 months until I'm 100% happy with my life", but at the same time I want to make some more friends and keep the possibilities of hookups open along the way. Maybe with that in mind, it wouldn't matter so much if it's an older crowd? I don't know, I still kinda want even friends to be around my age of 22.

I've actually been looking for a business related group in Dallas, but the ones in the DFW area are either based in Denton or Flowermound, so I guess i'm out of luck. Anyway, most people our age don't go out and make connections. We're too caught up in other things.
After doing some research in the pentagon, I have confirmed not even the 21-35 year old groups on meetup have any people around my age. ****. Seriously, am I that out of touch with the rest of society? Don't people my age hang out and make new friends anymore? Where? I'm not a huge drinker, so the bar scene's not exactly where it's at for me.
