Rudy, Steve, and just about everybody else is talking about Yao's moves vs M'daye being Dream-like. I honestly don't get it. Why is that a good thing? Dream's moves were incredible, but the guy is 6-10 1/2. He HAD to shake and bake oponents to get loose. He couldn't shoot over people. Yao is 7-freaking-6. Why does he have to be fancy? Why does he have to make such elaborate moves? It just increases the chances of getting stripped of the ball. He'll never have the fluidity of Dream and it's not needed. He needs to develop sky-hooks and some simple moves to be able to shoot over people.
Shaq doesn't have Dream's moves, yet he's still unstopable. Would Phil Jackson want Shaq to shake and bake and do the turnaround fadeway, when he can just overpower people as it is and get to the basket?

They not are saying that Yao shouldnt develop a sky hook. But, they are complimenting him on his ability to make moves like that while be 7'6". Manute Bol or Shawn Bradley could only dream about doing that.

Have you noticed that Ming has almost no upper body muscle? He can't push in a defender any more than the dream could.

Having Ming turn around and take 8-10 foot jumpers all night would be useless, if he can turn around and move his defender, it just increases his chance of getting a closer shot.

Like you said "Shaq doesn't have moves, he just overpowers people", but Ming can't and probably never will.

If he develops moves anywhere near Dream's talent, then he should use it all he can.

No, but he's taller than all other centers in the league. He doesn't need to shake defenders loose, he just has to learn to drop skyhooks over them and to shoot over them...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. You have to admit there will be a NOVELTY
about the fact that Yao comes here and start's making moves "like Hakeem."

But, after the novelty wears off, it's time for business. And business means
developing Yao as the "next YAO! His own style. His own "unstoppable moves."

Give him time and that will happen. He will be able to do things that NO
CENTER HAS DONE BEFORE. Why? Because he's truly unique. And contrary
to common belief, the guy has POST MOVES! He doesn't just shoot from the
    outside.

And although, he has "guard" skills, Rudy T will NOT turn him into the next
"Ralph Sampson." Why limit him to a point center? And Rudy wont just
make him take shots from the outside, just because that's his strong point
now. He'll develop his outside game, inside game, and this own special game.

Just sit back and watch the show...

That's a good thing b/c it shows he's not a stiff. he is agile. He can develop his own moves along the way. He can be a better all around player, not just a tall player. :D

For those of you who read the Marc Stein on article on yao getting his points against N'Diaye..

Well N'Diaye had 12 points, 4 rebounds and 8 blocks today....

    Not exactly a scrub....
