Considering the number of players going into free agency next year, whats the roster going to look like. I know this is premature especially before the draft. I just cant help wondering. Brunson will be back I am sure. But everyone else.. gone! Who will be out there in our price range?

I don't think Brunson will be back.

    Alston/Sura/Cassel?
    Head/Reddick?/Frahm
    T-Mac/Bogans/Wells?
    Stro/JHo/Hayes
    Yao/Deke

That's what I think it will look like with the exception of the ? marks.

    Swift - unfortuanitly

Sura - not so sure. can he come back?

4 - 5 spots left. Who is out there? Deke will be gone, Bowan will be gone,

C: Yao Ming / Dikembe Mutumbo
PF: Stromile Swift / Juwan Howard
SF: Tracy McGrady / Keith Bogans / Ryan Bowen
SG: Luther Head / David Wesley
    PG: Rafer Alston

That isn't any particular order, and that isn't necessarily who I want to start or want to stay, just who I feel will be here next season.

I want a SG from the draft and/or a PF from the draft and I want a PG from the FA and/or a PF and/or a SF.

I think Rafer needs a back up (if Head doesn't learn to play point), I think we need a SG so bad it's not even funny, and we could use a quality back up for T-Mac.

It would be nice to land Cassel, Posey, K. Rush, D. Jones, or any experienced PG and a 3-ball threat. I have my faith in Swift, Yao, and T-Mac.

I think for sure Tmac, Yao, and Rafer. I'm hoping we keep Frahm too since he can really hit from outside. Everybody else we'll just have to see. Won't Peja be available if he doesn't resign w/ Pacers?

There seems to be some confusion as to Dikembe's status.

hoopshype.com says that he's signed through next year...

I think there's going to be very limited turnover this offseason. Anyone who follows this team well enough knows that it needs just a little tweaking and the addition of one or two important pieces to become a contender. Excessive turnover has hurt us badly already in the past couple of years, and we're probably going to try to avoid going down that route again.

Unless Deke decides to retire, he will be back on the roster next year. His deal is for 2 years.

Frahm's inability to play defense means it's fairly unlikely at this point that he will be coming back. Especially if we draft a capable SG in the draft, or we manage to snag someone like Josh Childress (pretty please CD make it happen!).

Chuck Hayes will be coming back to play scrub/limited minutes. I don't think there will be any movement at the PF position. Most of the talk about drafting/signing a PF is just wishful thinking from people who are frustrated with Juwan Howard and consider Swift a bust. I believe they're both here to stay, for at least one more year.

Lampe will stay. Hopefully they'll be able to groom him into a capable backup center for Yao that can eventually take over when Deke retires.

There's about a 50% chance that Wesley re-signs. Unlike Mike James, he isn't exactly looking to go out and get paid. He has made a good living over his career, and he has made a home for himself here in Houston. I wouldn't be surprised to see him accept a vet minimum for a chance to stay with the Rockets. If he does come back, he will likely be coming off the bench.

Luther's definitely here to stay. Wouldn't be surprised to see him remain in Houston for the next 5 years at least. So is Rafer. Keith Bogans will return. Ryan Bowen will be waived. Brunson's off to go coach temple - He ain't coming back. The Rockets will look to fill two needs in free agency/draft:

    - A capable, durable, veteran point guard. Maybe Cassell, but it's going to take some strong manuevering by CD to get him. Unless Sura is fully healed long before the season begins, they won't be hanging their hopes on him. I'm sure the last thing they want is to go through a situation like this season where both our point guards were injured for a long period of time and our offense was utterly lifeless as a result.

    - A relatively taller, athletic swingman to start at 2 guard. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rockets go after a team like Atlanta and offer them a #1 draft pick. This draft is shallow and the best we can hope to come out of it with is a 3-point specialist like JJ Redick. We will likely bring V-Span over too, but the problem is that we need a capable starter. If we draft a 2 guard, and/or bring over Spanoulis, it means either David or Luther will be starting next year. Doubt that's what we want.

No confusion at all. Deke signed a two-year contract this past offseason. He's back with the team next season.

ONE MORE YEAR OF ELBOW LOVIN'!!

Umm...look at the people above that don't have Deke in their lineups for next season.

How can you say there wasn't/isn't confusion?

do we want to keep tmac at the SF so he wont have to run around as much as SG bc of his back??

bc there are some good FA SF's out there: jumaine jones, devean george, posey(sg too), ariza?, harrington.

as far as FA SG's: rush?, fred jones, wells.

    yao/deke
    stro/howard
    tmac/
    bogans/head
    alston/spanoulis

    for now i guess.

PG: Alston, Sura (if able), (3rd PG)
    SG: (FA/Draft/Trade), Head, Frahm
    SF: Tmac, Bogans, Bowen
    PF: Howard, (FA/Draft/Trade), Hayes
C: Yao, Deke, "Genie of the Magic" Lampe <=

    View on Draft picks:
I'm hoping to the rox can move up in the draft anywhere from 7-10 would be nice and draft a bruiser PF like Sheldan Williams or just PF.

The person that has the most value being traded with out hurting the team is, I hate to say it b/c i like him, SWIFT. I think NJ still wants this guy and would flourish in NJ style of play. Trade SWIFT for one of their 1st round picks, since they have 2. Maybe grab a SG. I don't how salaries fit in to this too make it work.

I don't think anyone would want Howard unless you give up a 1st pick to go with get rid of him and his contract.
