What's that movie... with that guy...that goes to that place...

    Seriously though...

    Its a Sci-Fi movie. Its this young dude, with a cool litle ship. And he goes and recruits like 8 other people with ships to help him fight this big bad guy and save his planet.

    It has that bad guy actor that does lawyer commecials now.

    That's what I thought it was at first bobrek, but in that movie, the kid is recruited by aliens because he is good at an arcade game.

    The one I am thinking of, the kid recruits others, not is recruited.

    It's not the one you're thinking of, but you just reminded me Flight of the Navigator. Now that was a fun movie for a kid :).

    I believe you're talking about Battle Beyond the Stars with Richard Thomas (John-Boy from the Waltons), George Peppard (Hannibal from the A-Team ) and John Saxon (50s heartthrob and the dad in Nightmare on Elm Street). It's a Roger Corman film that's somewhat like Star Wars but it's even more a ripoff of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.

    But it's still entertaining - I first saw it when I was 6 or 7 and loved it.

    Robert Vaughn is in the movie too. Although he doesn't play the bad guy.
