Living in Houston for about 13 years or so, i've gotten used to Houston and all the things that attracts to out-of-towners. But what is so good about Houston?

So far I came to realize that, we have some of the best hair stylest then most cities. (it's proven, my hair is better in Houston then any other city ;))

NASA, Johnson Space Center, has some cool stuff but i've only been there twice as a kid.

    Astroworld Six Flags.

I've heard that we have the best food, but I don't know where they're at? Please help me on that one.

We have some of the best looking ladies around ;)

    Galleria Mall.

    Nice surrounding areas.

and some other crap that i can't think of..

Our women are WAY up there. Isn't that what its all about,

Plus, cheap cost of living, including, food, and real estate. Lax business laws. And to top it off, our politicians have decided to pull their heads out and actually try to clean up the city a little. That's good enough for me.

I grew up in Houston and have only visited intermittently for the past 30 years. The thing I love is the smell of the Fall air-- makes me think of endless yard football games as a kid.

Oh, to be 7 again... :)

Houston is always ranked as one of America's greatest restaurant cities.

You left our plethora of titty bars off your list. I know that's one reason why athletes and other celebs love coming here.

    Also:
The Houston Grand Opera, the Houston Ballet, and the Alley Theater are second in the country only to those in New York City. I've read and heard that for all of my life. We also have one hell of a museum district that ranks amongst the best in the nation. I'm not sure where the Houston Symphony Orchestra ranks, but I'm sure its up there.

    Houston rules.

Dude no joke, you are all going to think I'm mental.

When I was around ten, we were traveling to Dallas in the car, I looked at a highway sign, and said, "man, that frontage sure is a long street", everyone in the car could not stop laughing.

People all most anywhere other than Houston look at you funny when you "feeder".

oh yea, our city is pretty diverse.
we got some cool places like china-town and stuff which is fun to see.

and Kemah is cool, it has a nice envoiroment to it. Clear Lake, Galveston and such. Sugarland is pretty nice, so is Pearland.

I was guessing we were the lowest, so I was hoping we would have some good things that would attract someone. We have some of the best things in Houston but I don't know why the out-of-towners would come here either cause I wouldn't. I guess Houston is mainly focused mostly on business and less attractions.

Oh yea the reason why I came up with this topic was because I saw this corny tv commercial after a Rockets Encore presentation on KNWS 51. This lady was singing some weird song while hey showed some Rocket players, Kemah, and the San Jac Memorial... (WOW)...and some other stuff that I cant remember.. mostly trees and that big water fountain near the Galleria... but anywho.. we need something.....

Oh and that Houston song commercial sucks. Sometimes I hear that song and I wonder about the vocalist in a studio singing it. I feel bad for her. Of course not as bad as I feel for the gal singing the "Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Right Now, Gotta Go Gotta Go Right Now" song. How would you like that one on your resume?

They should just play the Code Red commercial where the dude blocks the mascot's dunk. Thats classic.

I've been around the world and other cities...

    H-town is definitely the best...

The best Adult clubs, best variety of food, best looking women...

    shall I go on...;)

2 hours to Florida, 2 hours to Vegas, 2 hours to Mexico City...

As funny as hearing about feeder roads, by far, Houston has the best road/highway system, with actual signs that help out...

i think most of the tourists in houston are upper-class families from mexico...whenever i go to the galleria (probably our #1 tourist destination), i see so many spanish speaking people in saks, neimans, etc. w/ dozens of full shopping bags...most of them probably drive up for the weekend for a shopping spree...

Good things about Houston, to me, are:

Cheap cost of living....cheapest of any US major city. Houston is one of the last major cities in the US where a regular working stiff can still afford to buy a decent house in a decent neighborhood.

Restaurants...I've been all over the US, and, along with San Francisco and New Orleans, Houston has great restaurants.

Blues Music...OK, I'm biased, but Houston has some of the best live blues music in the country.

Nice People....more often than not, strangers are friendly to each other here.

Arts....great museums, symphony, and theatre (especially yours, Batman!)

Golf...if you like to play golf, Houston is one place you want to be. More (and nicer) public courses than most cities.

That's funny. You know where you read or heard that from, right? The PR departments of those organizations. The Ballet and the Opera are pretty well respected, but not second only to NYC. And The Alley's not even close. Their major exports over the last several years have been Jekyll and Hyde and Civil War, both of which were Broadway laughingstocks. There are better, more critically acclaimed monolithic pro theaters in at least five other cities. I mean, if you're into that sort of thing. I'm not.

    Infernal Bridegroom rules, Alley drools.

The things I miss about Houston are the great variety of restaurants, and the Rockets on TV.
