I'm seriously wondering, let's say we sign Melo, guys like Duval and Melton along with James Ennis on top of MCW and re-signing Capela & Green, what is our strategy? I know we need to wait until the play-offs and guys might become available in a trade, but your plan should never rely upon the chances of getting someone - though Morey has operated like that before - when you are a contender. Do you guys feel we are really just praying one or two of these guys "outplay their contract", thus play great defense and become reliable 3pt shooters all of a sudden? Does Morey expect CP3 and Harden to be good enough to get us a top 4 seed with this roster for the time being? What happened to chemistry if that's the case, all the work that was put into putting this group together, the camaraderie that was formed with Luc & Ariza here. Was that all for nought and in the end it's just about moving piece, assets, stats and getting as much stars as you can then? I'm really not understanding that for a contender, the GM and owner so easily brush losing Ariza & Luc off as expendable pieces. With Ariza, of course you don't pay him 15 million, but at least sign the guy who was his back up. Though what happened to how important Ariza was to us and his personal relationship with CP3? This start of the off-season is like an odd dream, almost a joke with running it back as the cherry on top.
"But Mouse, you are not alone, In proving foresight may be vain: The best laid schemes of mice and men Go often askew, And leave us nothing but grief and pain, For promised joy!"
Morey's strategy, in a nutshell: Hate losing Ariza, but Melo will be an upgrade overall. Hate losing Luc, but he's not irreplaceable. Losing Ryno is his wet dream.
signing melo who downgrades the teams chances but still gives the casual fan who doesn't keep up false hope, since they believe in the name #WHOME
No strategy right now to fill the defensive wing void. Morey just said he has until April to figure it out. He's flying by the seat of his pants.
Nice, so basically hope Capela takes the one year offer to stay as low in the luxury tax or under it?
Morey made it clear. Get better before April. This isn’t the final roster and they’ll use trades and buyouts at the deadline
Sign Melo for minimum. Sign James Ennis for part of MLE. Trade Ryan Anderson + first for Kent Bazemore. Resign Clint. Roll with... CP3 Harden Bazemore Melo Clint Gordon -----------------------BIG 6 Tucker Green Ennis Zhou Melton Nene Hartenstein That's what I would do.
Not overpay when we dont have to. Overvaluation is a disease. Comes and bites people in the A** more often than not.
Heres what I think. I think we knew Ariza was gone from the jump. Luc? I honestly think they were waiting for Capela's situation to play out before making a real offer. The problem is we haven't really made any moves to counter them leaving. Melo's probably going to be here. But even with Melo, we still need two 3&D wings that'll come in a defend & hit open shots. It looks like the Rockets did not have a gameplan going into the offseason
The Otto Porter Movement provides this jewel of a shot chart for all that are on the fence about joining our family
I don't even know if I want to read this thread. Any of us who pretend to know what the hell Morey is thinking/doing are acting a fool. I have no idea what his plan is.
