OK, chefs, lemme know what y'all will be cooking. I haven't decided yet, and don't even know if I will have time...too bad cuz I have had a severe craving for my grilled crabmeat/creamcheese-stuffed, bacon-wrapped jalapenos. A heavenly, righteous Super Bowl food that I have made for the last three games. One thing though....beer sales....Belden's in my hood (Meyerland/Westbury) is selling all brands of Shiner for $4.69 a sixpack and all brands of St. Arnolds for $4.99 a sixpack through next Tuesday.
My family-famous SEVEN Layer Dip... from the bottom up in a glass huge dish: Ground-Beef cooked with Tony Chacheree's Refried Beans Sour Cream Diced Lettuce Diced Tomato Shredded Cheese Diced Avocado Use the huge TORTILLA chips from Fiesta to dip. Tostitos' brand chips break easily. The smaller the cutting of the ingredients, the easier to dip.
Wow. That sounds delicious! Care to share the recipe? For me, it will be a Vietnamese food spread. -Banh cuon thit noung -Bun bo xao -Com bo luc lac -Muc rang muoi -Canh chua ca -Hu tieu xao bo sate I've found this new beer imported from Vietnam called 33. Quite possibly my new fave beer. All of this after I attend the Rockets game. It shall be a good day.
Okey-dokey..... 12 jalapenos 1 tub whipped lowfat cream cheese 1 pkg fake crabmeat 1 lb. pkg thick sliced bacon -Slice stem off jalapenos and slice each one lengthwise -THOROUGHLY remove seeds and stems and wash each one -Place a dollop of creamcheese and a chunk of fake crabmeat into the cavity of each jalapeno half -wrap with a slice of bacon and secure with 2 toothpicks -GRILL either outside, or indoors on a grillpan until the bacon is semi-crisp. I imagine using a George Foreman grill might be a cool way to cook these things as well. The more you scoop out the stems & seeds, wash the jalapenos, and the longer you grill them, the less spicy the jalapenos will be. Enjoy! Goes great with ICE COLD BEER!!!!!
You'll love it, and the best part is....if the jalapenos are a little spicy....YOU DRINK MORE COLD BEER TO PUT OUT THE HEAT FROM THE JALAPENOS!!! YEEHAW!!!!!!!!!
I'm making my famous queso dip and hanging at my cousin's in Big D...He's making fajitas and stuff...Yum...Can't wait...
Ordering Joe's Stone Crab via fedex....Stone Crab, Cole Slaw, spinach, and Joes famous key lime pie...nothing better!
Fajitas...Pappasito's style. Secret recipe.... Marinate in a half pineapple juice, half soy sauce mixtrue for 14-18 hours with lime. Grill.
Care to translate that, please. I know bo luc lac, I know it very well. One of my favorite things to eat. I think some people call it rock n' roll beef. I know "bun" is vermicelli and "bo" is beef, so I'm guessing it's like vermecilli with lettuce and stuff under it and beef on top, then you pour that fish sauce on there, mmmm. As for me, I don't know yet. My mom usually makes her Chili, with beans, which is ok because she's not even american and screw you chili nazis with your "all chili must meet cook off guidelines" attitude. Anyways, my dad has started doing business out here in Bryan/CS, maybe he can drop off a pot. If not, then it's chili from a can and hot dogs.
The usual: Ribs, chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork steaks, hot wings, bacon-wrapped dove breasts, cocktail weiners, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, roasted cabbage, corn, chips, dips, etc.
That's quite the list for being "the usual". Treat SuperBowl like Thanksgiving, do ya? What is roasted cabbage?
Sure! Banh cuon thit noung Banh is cake, cuon means rolled, thit nuong means pork. So it's rice cake fried with grilled pork. It is served with nuoc mam and cha, which is that sweet/spicy red sauce and Vietnamese ham. Bun bo xao Yes, bun is vermicelli noodles, bo is beef, xao is stir fry. So it's vermicelli noodles w/ pan seared beef, stir fried tomatoes, onions, and peanuts. Served with nuoc mam. Com bo luc lac French fried rice w/ filet mignon beef tips. Muc rang muoi Squid battered and fried and served with lemon and salt. Eaten as an appetizer or with rice. Goes well with BEER. Canh chua ca Sweet and sour soup w/ steamed fish, rhubard, pineapple, and bean sprouts. Served with rice, and jalepenos. Hu tieu xao bo sate Pan fried flat rice noodles w/ beef, stir fried with onion and sate. Sate is HOT, HOT. I usually add some more hot sauce to it.
Ask candycane, I always cook TOO MUCH but I love to cook. Roasted cabbage: Take one head of cabbage and slice it so you have about 5 round slices of cabbage and tear about 18 inches of foil for each slice. Place a slice of bacon or a teaspoon of bacon grease/fat on the foil, make sure it covers as much area as possible. Place cabbage slice on top of bacon. Spread a teaspoon of butter/margarine on top of cabbage slice. Sprinkle cabbage slice with pepper, salt, real bacon bits. Wrap cabbage tightly in foil. Place in 400 degree oven for 30-45 minutes. Voila! Roasted cabbage.
