I need some new ideas for the grille, I BBQ at least 2-3 times a week, but the chicken, ribs, brisket, pork loin, chops etc... is getting old. I looked online and just found a bunch of foo foo crap made for TV or magazines. I have found the best ideas from other people who grille anyway, so throw out some ideas please.
Do you ever try seafood? We grill salmon, catfish, shrimp to name a few. A little Tony's, worchester sauce, garlic powder and you are good to go. As a change of pace, last weekend we shiskabobbed (is that a word?) pork. I marinated it in teryaki sauce. I separately marinated onion, mushroom, red and green peppers in the same sauce. Skewer and grill, basting with more sauce. It was great.
Go to an HEB and get some of their beer and Italian brats and premarinated fajitas. The pork fajitas are half the price of beef and very good, and the brats are awesome. We grill them all the time.
Try some shrimp on the barbie.... Shrimp soaks in marinade really well and its dee-lish when grilled. For vegetables I love grilled asparagus. For dessert slice a peach in half take out the seed. brush it with a mixture of basalmic vinegar, brown sugar, and lemon juice ... grill till soft. serve that with a good vanilla ice cream ie Haagan Dazs and you're gettin laid for sure.
Yes, the shrimp is the answer you seek... Grilled shrimp... with some mesquite chips in the coals... Mmmmmmmmm, mmmmmmmm, awesome!
i just grilled tuna.. last time it was good marinated in cajun spices.. this time i dipped it in some bread crumbs mixed with dried herbs (took about 2 mins). Very nice both times.. just gotta be careful to not overcook
Redfish on the halfshell is mighty tasty, but not sure if you want to eat what swims in galveston bay.
My girlfriend's dad grills chicken livers wrapped in bacon. They are pretty good. I wonder why adding bacon to something increases its tastiness 10 times.
My brother brought a red snapper he caught over to grill. That was great. I can't remember what he put on it. You need a BBIIGG grill for red snapper and be prepared to deal with a large amount of penny sized scales.
I either put them directly on or wrap them in foil, most of the time it is directly on. Depending on what type of grill you have and how big the shrimp are you might want to use skewers.
If your grill bars are too wide and if the shrimp are small enough, then they could fall through them. I have two grills, one is a parallel bars style and the other is a grate style. The kind and size of shrimp I usually grill I can just throw on the grate grill but I have to skewer them if I use the bar one.
