Regarding USA Basketball? Winning or showing USA pride? For me it's easy, showing pride. I think for the most part (despite this crappy WC performance) we have shown the world since 92, that basketball goes through the US. What more do we have to prove by winning by 30 pts in a game? With that being said, we didn't even do that this time out... If we're not going to win, we might as well win with college players who want to be there. Even if it means not medaling in basketball. The 2nd Dream Team killed most of its comp, but was heavily criticized because they were a team full of bozos ie. Shawn Kemp, and Derrick Coleman, who basically acted like showboats. This "Dream Team" just didn't seem to have any passion. The fact that they didn't care is 10X's more insulting than the fact that they lost. The NBA players take a privelage like this for granted, whereas for 99% of college players, this would be their biggest accomplishment as amateur players. This would more than likely mean we would have players who are willing to play hard and care about playing in exhibitions like this.
i just wished the media would bring this up more and mock nba player to the point they can't be see in public without out getting booed.
I am very disappointed in how the USA players performed, but I see it more as a lack of pride. All of the players chosen have shown to have pride- whether it is for their respected teams or very individual reasons. And, now, they have the chance to represent their country, and they slack off? That's unacceptable and a poor display of pride in your country.
