Well, we don't have them yet, but my wife and I are getting a VCR/DVD combo for Christmas. We needed a new VCR. We've got a ton of VHS tapes, especially Disney cartoons. And, we wanted to keep up with the times and get a DVD player. We're buying 4 movies: Planet of the Apes - I loved those friggin Apes! Very realistic. Gladiator - Probably should've gone with Braveheart. Castaway - I'm one of those who loved it. Snatch - The wife and I are both huge Pitt fans, for obviously different reasons, and it's a great movie.

Whoa thats a good list you got there. Out curiousity, where do yall buy your DVDs? I usually buy mine at Fry's. Usually when they first come out, they sell them from $12-$16. As for ones that have been out for awhile, Best Buy and Circuit City usually have sales on the older movies.
Although I would like to just have special editions in my lineup, production companies won't listen to my plights for a wayne's world ultimate edition and so forth. Unfortunately I know I'll be a victim of the double dip within the coming months, but anything for commentary tracks. / anyways... fight club killer klowns from outter space memento die hard ultimate trilogy beastie boys video anthology seven the matrix the matrix revisited the thing jp 1 the shawshank redemption from dusk til dawn gladiator leon unbreakable aliens big trouble in little china castaway clerks:tas clerks mallrats chasing amy the truman show akira pi basic instinct sex, lies, and videotape crash high fidelity grosse pointe blank manhunter the simpsons season 1 the tao of steve blood simple suspiria monty python and the holy grail 2001 a space odyssey willy wonka and the chocolate factory enlarged to show detail enlarged to show detail 2 wayne's world box set evil dead evil dead 2 army of darkness spartacus
I'd guess I got 90% of mine from Circuit City. I've bought a couple from Amazon, got some as gifts, got some from Columbia House, and just got two from Costco today, but generally, from Circuit City.
I have nearly all the NBA DVD's except the Lakers' 2000 and 2001 championship DVD's Ultimate Jordan is awesome. Other two I have are...... Wayne's World Best of Dana Carvey--SNL
1. Run Lola Run (Canadian) 2. Malcolm X 3. Pi 4. Caddyshack 5. Raging Bull 6. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels 7. Reservoir Dogs 8. Ordinary Decent Criminal (never released in U.S., has Kevin Spacey, thank God for Chinese made DVD players) 9. Croupier (DVD never released in U.S.; Canadian DVD) 10. The Killing (Canadian) 11. Killer's Kiss 12. Paths of Glory 13. Usual Suspects (coming in 2 weeks) Out of those, I have only watched #1-5, 10, 12 on DVD, and I have seen #9 and #13 elsewhere but not yet on DVD. I will never buy a DVD online from anywhere except DeepDiscountDVD.com or ColumbiaHouse.com unless I find a coupon. I have never bought a DVD at a B&M. The only DVDs I spent more than $15 for including shipping were Croupier, Usual Suspects (traded an extra copy of Croupier), and Ordinary Decent Criminal (the dude's bank charged a lot for exchange from Dollars->Pounds) I don't plan on buying any DVDs in the next year or so except Rushmore, Spartacus, The Kubrick Collection (9 DVDs), and The Seafarers (to complete my full Kubrick collection)... looks like $150 or so left to spend
My DVD player has no region setting or copy protection and can play PAL and NTSC DVDs to PAL or NTSC output, I wanted a DVD to see how it plays Region 2 PAL DVDs, so I bought that DVD cause it sounded alright.
Too many Seriously though...I am up to about 60. I really like collecting them at second hand music shops (if you know where to shop in sydney). The RRP is just way too high on dvd's...but these shops have them for about 60% if your lucky. They are near my work, so a few of us go there two or three times per week. Most copies are ex reviewers / store copies...mostly never played I really like music dvd's. I have all the Neil Young ones + pearl jam + the who + got mark seymour for half price last week (an aussie singer, acoustic show...sensational)
I just got a DVD player 6 weeks ago. I'm not at some of ya'lls level of collecting, but so far some good ones Taxi Driver Amores Perros Kalifornia Chinese Connection Buena Vista Social Club Deperado/El Mariachi (A gift...not that I'm an Antonio Banderas fan or anything) 2001 Tour de France I just got the Island of Dr. Moreau on Ebay last week. Itsa comin' in the mail.
