Madlib-Shades of Blue (some amazing ****!)
    Blackalicious-Blazing Arrow
    MF Doom-Mmm...Food
    Quannam-Quannam Spectrum
    Madvillain-Madvillainy
    Jurassic 5-Quality Control
    Dave Matthews-Some Devil
    Keane-Hopes and Fears
    The Killers-Hot Fuss
    The Roots-Tipping Point

As you can see, I'm on a big hip-hop thing right now. Shades of Blue has been an epiphany for me. Dude takes all these old Blue Note recordings and layers them with a nice beat. Mostly instrumental, but still bad.

I'm currently filling up my home cd player with all of my favorite songs and bands I loved through the ages since I was a little kid. This includes all the bands I don't really care about anymore these days but still like to hear for old times sake (after a few beers...). Put the system on all cd shuffle and let the memories roll!

"These Things I Believe" by Johnny Calhoun, a spoken word album of his right wing political beliefs that kinda killed his career.

    I'm a huge Doom fan...not so much Madlib/Quasimoto.

I've been listening to M.O.T.O., The Wipers, and the latest Black Keys record a lot lately.

I havent played a CD since I got this thing.....too many good things to listen to.

Spend most of my time on Buzzsaw and Hair Nation....flipping between those and Classic Vinyl, Raw Dog Comedy and Octane.

Clever thread title - I was expecting "What are you listening to" or "What's in the CD player", but you threw me for a huge loop there. And then adding 'The New Years Edition' - I'm all off-kilter now.

    Anyway ...

The new Beatles box, mainly "The Beatles' Second Album"
Val Emmich - "Slow Down Kid"
    Eddie Spaghetti - "The Sauce"
Supersuckers - "Live at the Magic Bag"
    "Motown - the Classic Years"
Neil Diamond - "Hot August Night" reissue (that's for you RM)
Rolling Stones - "Between the Buttons" and "Out of Our Heads"

Classic "Red, Red Wine" and "Holly Holy" right there. Good stuff.

BTW, have you ever seen Agent Cody Banks? There's a scene with a Butch song. Talk about being off-kilter.

Bah... My New Years song has always been "Manny's Christmas"

It goes: (in George Michael verbage)

Last Christmas, I gave you my soap
But the very next day, you pooped on the rope
This year, in front of my peers
I'll toss it to someone special....
