I haven't been able to keep up with the injuries with Brooks and Yao. I know Brooks will return soon enough because he had a horrible sprain thanks to Manu. But I don't have a clue on whats going on with Yao. When he got hurt, they said it was mild and he would only be out for a week. But then they said another week and then another week. He's still out from that injury which seem ages ago. I mean was it that serious? It seems like Yao cannot even stay on the court to save his life. We cut ties with Tmac around this time last year. I think maybe its time with Yao also. I think all his injuries and set back has been slowing down this team. Even when he was playing, that 24 minutes a game thing has been killing us. I don't know how you guys feel about this but all of this things going on with Yao has been really frustrating. I mean I rather not have him play at all or trade him so Brad and our younger guys have more minutes on the court. I mean Chuck, Brad, and Hill are more productive and I like the big man rotation Rick has right now. Yao returning will not only throw off the rotation but even slowing down the team. Many of ya probably won't agree with me on this thread but as a Rockets fan, Im just sick and tired of this. Yao gets hurt way too easily. That 24 mins a game and no back to back is also frustrating. The Yao's era is officially over and Im hoping they will deal him for a young talent or high draft picks. But knowing how much Yao as a person meant to this organization so I know they will keep him.
Basically, Yao says he's ready, visibly he is frustrated and kind of down, just go to Rockets.com and watch his practice interviews. He dodges some questions, and says it's a no go, until docs green light. Might be in the minority, but nope, not giving up on him yet. This team isn't that great this season anyway, lets see how it plays out, and maybe we get lucky and he comes back this season. Your frustration is understandable.
I'd rather go with the doctor's opinion. It really didn't take much to hurt himself this most recent time.
I know many people wont like my opinions. But everyone has their own different opinions. Many still believe Yao is the franchise player and the best Center in the NBA and others think differently. But was he even that great when he was healthy? His stats were never off the charts when he was at his peak. Most people on CFans would say Yao is much better than Dwight Howard. I know Yao is a better scorer when healthy but how much better offensively is he anyway? Yao may make his free throws but Howard brings so much more to the table than Yao. Howard's defensive presence is unbelievable. That's why he is the DPOY. At this moment, I rather have Bogut or Kamen right about now.
I really feel bad for the guy. I mean my frustration doesn't even come close to the frustration Yao is going through. All the injuries he dealt with over the years really has taken a toll on him physically and mentally. But its not whats best for him, its more of a whats best for the team. I love Yao as a person. I hope everything turns out well for him. But is he hurting the team more than doing good for the team? I mean Yao can't win games for us by sitting on the bench. And apparently he spend more time on the bench than on the court. Even when he's playing, that 24 minutes a game isn't really helping either. Im really anxious to see what the Rockets would do with Yao in the near future. Resign him? Trade him? Let him Walk? Resigning Yao and giving him a lesser role seems to be what everyone is thinking. But 90% chance he will get hurt and be sideline again. I rather trade him and get some good young assets or high draft picks would help the team more than having Yao wearing a nice suit cheering on the bench.
