I used to live in Houston during the championship years and one of the fondest memories was living on Richmond Ave and witnessing the spectacle of a city gone mad with pride over their hometown Rox! Richmond became a parking lot with honking horns and people hanging from every window shouting and generally losing their minds. Now I live in Austin and I'm just curious... what's going on in Houston after these historic wins? Does the buzz leave the Toyota Center? How about some stories or pics from around town that show off some Rockets spirit?
I just got home from the game, and holy hell! The place was LOUD! Everyone, especially in the fourth quarter was up with high fives for everyone within site, hugs a plenty were seen. Even leaving the game there were HOUSTON- ROCKETS shouts, cars honking, more high five's to complete strangers! It felt like a playoff game, no doubt. What a great time!!
I think those years were the peak of Richmond Ave. craze. It has been a ghost town these days. Downtown is where it's at now.
Yeah, I figured that Richmond ave was no longer the place. There have been so many comments about the "high school or college team type chemistry" the players have. I just wondered if the city was responding to the wins outside of the TC. It may not really kick in until the playoffs.
