Serious question. The mention of this part of Obama's life got a laugh from Rudy and the crowd and another sarcastic remark from Palin and more laughter. Isn't this the Faith Based initiative party? Aren't the funds from the gov't to these faith based initiatives going to people active in the community. What's the joke?
I keep thinking about Family Guy: Lois: I don't do those things because I enjoy them, I do them because I love my Family. Peter: HaHaHa. Lois loves her family! Lois loves her family! Lois and her family, sitting in a tree.... Seriously - the party of "family values" is nothing more than the party of greed. CASE CLOSED.
They aren't running for President and/or Vice President. Democrats have been giving Palin a hard time for her experience as a small town mayor so her return volley resonated and underscored Obama's inexperience. So did an earlier line, Guiliani or Huckabee (?), that she got about as many votes in that small town election as Biden did in his Presidential run.
Pharisee National Convention. Can't tell you how turned off I was by that part of her speech, in particular.
What exactly IS a community organizer? Sounds to me like he took a few years off and had to label it something on his resume. It's like he took time to 'find himself', and basically laid around the house, doing some drugs on the side (from his own book), and then possibly attended a rally or two just so he could say he's a 'community organizer'. He needs to come clean and just say he didn't do anything for a few years. I mean seriously, what is he doing during that time?
I was turned off by the sexist attacks on her. (True, I detest Hillary, but that because she is crooked as a dog's hind leg, not because she is a woman.) She has been bloodied in unfair assaults on her to that point, so now you are upset that she drew blood in return?
I'm upset that she scoffed at the role of community organizers. I'm upset that they seem to be embracing the old "attack dog" role of old style politics DIRECTLY. Assaults? What assaults? Made up internet rumors? Please. They've questioned her record and her experience. The GOP has done that to Obama. That's fair game. But coming out and minimizing the role of community organizers and activists in this country is COLOSSAL mistake in my view...and shows how ridiculously out of touch the GOP is at this point.
He had a staff of 10 and also managed over 700 volunteers in registering 150,000 people to vote. A lot of his grassroots operations and success in winning primary battles is based on that experience. His drug use was in high school, not as an adult.
No kidding...and there is nothing wrong with a community organizer...BUT...BUT when that is your very claim of "executive leadership"...sorry, that's weak...And furthermore, I recall those that thought it was "funny" to be a mayor beforehand...A mayor deal with homeless and those in need from what I understand and much more...The hyprocisy by the left is laughable...
Like attacking and minimizing small town mayors? I wonder which "union" is bigger and has more voice and import.
you know what? that souns eerily similar to someone you may or may not have voted for president recently... i'm thinking sometime around 2000 and perhaps 2004?
so questioning her experience as a small town mayor now equates: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
Karl Rove did - he said that Tim Kaine was too inexperienced to be VP because he was mayor of too small of a town (Richmond VA) - saying it was only the 155th largest city, and that he had only been governer of virgina for 3 years and that wasn't enough.
