Some people think Francis has made comments lately that indicate he is not happy in htown (rocpaint). ;) So this got me thinking. Say at the halfway point we arent playing up to expectations and Francis really isn't happy here. What would you rate his value? Who could we get in a trade for him? Please dont waste server space by making stupid comments like "Steve isn't going anywhere he is the Franchise" I'm not suggesting this will happen or should. I'm just curious what people here think hes worth.

    Mike Miller + a 1st # pick of Memphis

    Andre Miller + 2 2nd # picks of Nuggets

    Baron Davis straight up

Gordon Giricek + Juwan Howard + Kirk Haines

I think those proposals are pretty fair :)

    Jermain O'Neil

Maybe we could even toss in Kelvin Cato for Jamaal Tinsley

A straight up one for one deal would be:

Houston trades: PG Steve Francis (21.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.2 apg in 41.0 minutes)
Houston receives: PF Elton Brand (18.5 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 39.6 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -2.5 ppg, +5.1 rpg, and -3.7 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PF Elton Brand (18.5 ppg, 11.3 rpg, 2.5 apg in 39.6 minutes)
L.A. Clippers receives: PG Steve Francis (21.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 6.2 apg in 81 games)
Change in team outlook: +2.5 ppg, -5.1 rpg, and +3.7 apg

I have no problem with this deal ! :)

I like Mike Miller a lot, but there is a fundamental problem with this trade. Excluding Francis from the mix, the Grizz and Rockets are very similar in overall talent. Giving Memphis Francis almost assuredly makes them a playoff (or near playoff) team and the pick would not a very good one. Plus, the Rox need to win now, picks be damned.

Miller just got extended a six year deal and the amount is still not known - if they gave Posey ~$5m, my guess is Miller received ~$8m. I still have some reservations about Millers back.

For basically a 1to1 trade, this is not even in my book and the Rox could do better. Although I bet Jerry West and Hubie would love it. :D

There's no way teams are going to trade for a small with their BIG, if both have the same level of game. Unless the small is Jordan. But, i don't think the Rox would trade Hakeem for Jordan 5th yr into his carreer, wouldn't they ?

Jermaine O'Neal and Elton Brand for Franchise = PIPE DREAM IMHO :D

Francise for Tyson Chandler, Z Randolph, or Troy Murphy+a pick is POSSIBLE IMHO. :)

We've already established exactly what Steve Francis is worth in a trade.

Michael Dickerson plus Othella Harrington plus a future first rounder.

LOL. but it was four years ago, Francis proved himself in these four years, but at the same time, he proved there's much that he needs to prove, and there is no inkling of his ability of proving these things. So well, I don't know......

LOL. I wouldn't trade Mobley for Kobe right now.

Gater, i agree that Francis value is somewhat higher than Miller - heck, what am i blabbering about, SF is an allstar for cry out loud ! ;)

But, you must understand the circumstance of the situation should Francis ever be traded. The Rox must somehow desperate to trade an allstar, with having him becoming more and more detrimental to the team's success. In this circumstance, SF's value must be dropping somewhat, and i do think that Mike Miller has the potential to become Peja Stojakovic type of scorer, with a game that suite & complement Yao's well, which would drive Miller's value up somewhat.

That would mean SF for MMiller+a 1st#pick is quite FAIR for both side of teams, especially if Memphis would be a bit sucking next season, so their pick would be a high one to boot

    Just MHO.

We have better than Mike Miller right now.

The difference between Mike Miller and Jim Jackson is minimal. If they are going to get a 3 they should look to package Francis and Griffin and the salary slot for Lewis and Ridnour (and what ever trash to make it work) .

as long as we're trading Francis for trash, we might as well see if we can swing Ming for Christian Laetner too. Somebody get on Real GM and figure it out plz.

because steve built a house and lives in the state where he grew up does not mean he's not happy in houston. good grief.

he just got through signing a friggin maz extension here, he's not going anywhere and i'm pretty sure management wants to keep their star pg as well.

i don't know if GM's see francis as valuable or not. i have doubts that most GM's would trade o'neal or brand for francis straight up

He wants to go to dc, fine with me:

    Glibert arenas
    Kwame

    for steve

Arenas is 5 years younger, better defender, and some will argue better player since fg% is higher. I hope steve demands a trade because we will actually become a better team if he does.
