Whats Adelmans Problem With Deke? Philadelphia outblocks us 14 - 2 and outrebounds us 48 to 40, its not suprising they beat us up defensively.

Deke may not be fast enough to recover on the Defensive end because all the 76ers did was run and gun. Also Deke has little to no offense where as we can pound it inside to Yao to get some points or Yao can draw the double team and kick out for a open shot. Deke would not be able to do that or require that much attention.

AT LEAST PUT HIM OUT THERE FOR 5-7 MINUTES. change the pace of the game. putting him out there make us a more physical and intimidating team in the interior.

adelman has to play him one of these days.

We hear this excuse after every team we play. So basically if this is the case we need to sign a real backup Center for Yao then in the off-season or make a trade for one. This has been a problem for the last few years.

Yeah im sick of that excuse. We definetly could use Deke no matter what team we play. 10-15 mins a game would make a huge difference for us. I'm sick of watching him rotting away on the bench. Our main problem right now is defense and we are letting our best defensive player rot on the bench, real smart Adelman smart.

I even heard the excuse when we played Indiana. People said well of course he couldn't guard Troy Murphy, and that Jeff Foster is not an offensive player so Deke would be useless that game. I don't get that, that is great if he has to guard Jeff Foster because that means he would definitely give us help defense.

I don't care who it is I just want a backup Center for Yao that actually plays. Deke proved last year that he could hold it down, all we ask for is 5-10 minutes with Deke. You would think people are asking for Deke to play 40 minutes.

With Hayes or anyone else, the Rockets lose too much height. I rather lose some speed instead of height(not like Yao is fast anyways). That's why it's silly not to play the cookie monster!

Dalambert type players is Yao's Achilles heel. Strong, physical, and athletic.

    (except D Howard....)

Adelman just doesnt like going deep to his bench unless he has to. And I think he's unfortunately more concerned with the offensive execution seing how things look with Scola, rather than on defense

If JVG was still coaching the Rockets, Deke plays period. Adelman can talk about defense but I can't take him seriously until he starts playing Deke.

I thought about D Howard but if you ever watch D12 play, he never really plays physical. He relies mainly on athletic ability alone.

I don't want to hear the excuse that Deke doesn't provide any offense. Battier and Hayes don't either but they still play. Also, the Rockets did well with him at C last season after Yao went down no matter who they played, which elimintates another excuse - that he can't play against teams that have non-traditional centers. No matter the team and no matter the style of play, Mutombo is always in good defensive and rebounding position. He needs to play 10-15 mpg. The fact that he's not is puzzling.

How can Aldeman forget that Deke was a huge part of why the Rockets were able to win 22 in a row? I just don't understand.

The main reason to sign Deke is to give Yao a 7 footer for practice, most importantly at a very cheap price.

I got a feeling that Adelman had nothing to do with the signing of Deke and he could care less if Deke plays at all even if we are losing to mediocre teams and playing crap defense.

I have heard this one a lot too and my goodness if that is the main reason then that is pathetic. Even if that is the case the Rockets could use Deke's minutes.

I don't think Deke is allowed to practice against Yao. His elbows are career enders.

Deke does not have enough offensive game to be able to fit in Adelman's system.

we have more than enough offensive firepower , we just need defense and that something this team is sorely lacking right now.
