Maybe Empire: Total War, or any of the Total War games.

Personally, Company of Heroes is one of my favorite games of all time. It's always installed on my computer.

    It's amazingly good. Turn-based though.

Sins of a Solar Empire seemed good but I just played the demo. Supreme Commander was fun and both should be available cheap. I think Supreme Commander is an evolution of Total Annihilation... which I loved as a kid. It's also the only reason why I can spell annihilation correctly.

Actually SupCom was made by Chris Taylor, the same guy who made Total Annihilation. So you are on point with your guess. SupCom2 should be coming out early March.

There aren't a whole lot of new games out right now. Some older games are still really good though if you have not played them before Sup Com, Red Alert2, but if you like AOE you will most likely love Age of Mythology. I still throw it in and play it often. It is a really fun game with a very similar feel to itm but it is set in mythological Greece, Egypt and Norse areas.

Company of Heros is excellent. Terrific squad based WWII RTS. Dawn of War is another, but very SF. Company of Heros and Dawn of War have sequels, so you can probably find the early ones cheap.

Yup, that's for sure. I used to play a lot of FPS games (Battlefield 2 especially), but now it seems that I spend a good majority of my game time playing RTS games. I just pre-ordered Napoleon: Total War from Amazon and I can't wait to play.
