I come from the land down under!
Where Mac does flow and Sarah chunders!

    chunders?

Will start with a Manhattan in about 3 hours. Much work still to do. Glad I did all the cooking last night -- Texas chili.

edit: Donny, thank you. I forgot this hour's dose of Obama Koolaid!

I'm waiting for Virginia. Probably margaritas on the rocks, no salt, with Hornitos. If it doesn't look good in Virginia, then Meyer's rum in a Cuba Libre. I can drink them faster. My wife might make me switch to wine, though. She's trying to keep me around. Why, I don't know.

I've got 2 water bottles. One's filled with water, the others empty. I'm not leaving my TV until both of them are full of piss and Obama's the president.

Just kidding. BEER! Either Guinness or Sam Adams winter pack.

Whether you'll be toasting to triumph or drowning out defeat once the polls close, these four election-night libations will win over even the most partisan of voters. And they come Grist-tested, Grist approved*.

*Approval of a candidate's cocktail does not indicate endorsement by Grist or its employees. Just a drunken good time. Please enjoy (and vote) responsibly.

    Maverick Martini
This straight shooter will have you striking bipartisan deals before you know it.

    1/2 oz. triple sec
    1/2 oz. amaretto
    1 oz. organic pineapple juice

    Palin Polar Punch
Put this frosty party-pleaser on your list before the ice melts.

4 liters ginger ale or lemon-lime soda pop
1 gallon lemon, raspberry, or pineapple sherbet
750 mL of a sweet organic white wine (such as reisling or pinot grigio)
1 cup (about 5 shots) lemon-flavored organic vodka
Garnish with iceberg ice cubes and mini polar bears

    Obama Mama
A strong and smooth mixed drink with tropical origins. Warning: Could leave you full of hope.

    1/2 oz. organic dark rum
1/2 oz. coconut rum or coconut liqueur
    1/4 oz. coffee liqueur
    2 oz. organic pineapple juice

    Organic Cup o' Joe
An old-fashioned favorite with international flair.

    Some like it hot:

    1 shot organic vanilla vodka
    1 shot Baileys Irish Cream
    1 oz. chocolate syrup
6 oz. hot organic, fair-trade coffee

    Some like it not:

    Fill remainder with coffee liqueur.
    Garnish with chocolate syrup.
