Watched a preview on this upcoming TNT feature scheduled to air Feb 16. Michael Ray Richardson was drafted in 1977 or '78 by the Knicks. He was a 6'6" guard / small forward body with point guard skills-playmaker known as sugar Ray. He was a phenom, but with coaching changes and problem associates he developed a serious drug habit. He was traded around - suspended several times, and became victim of his behavior and casualty of the league drug policy and was banned from the NBA. I felt this was a powerful documentary -narrated by Chris Rock. Not to dwell on tragedy, but this man had serious game. I look forward to watching it again on TNT - Feb 16...
I believe they're showing this documentary on NBA TV... I know I saw a portion of it yesterday, and the TV guide said it was one hour long...
Thats what I wanna know. Richard Bey was one of my favorite shows before it went off the air. As for Michael Ray Richardson, he's one of those players they say could've been better than Jordan. I think he got a lifetime ban from the NBA cause he tested positive for cocaine several times.
He was scalped and left to rot after having the audacity to steal my haircut. THe Richardson piece was on NBA TV yesterday.
