Come on, RM95, you should know that Manny is the official "what are you listening to" thread starter of this BBS... Can't we just leave a thread like this as a sticky at the top of the forum?
Brendan Benson - "Lapalco" Butch Walker - "Left of Self-Centered" Beautiful Creatures - "Beautiful Creatures" Injected - "Burn it Black" Ash - "Free All Angels" Bowling for Soup - "Drunk Enough to Dance" The Strokes - "Is This It" A - "Hi-Fi Serious"
I'm not really into what is essentially "church music," but I just got a new SACD player, and this came with it. The music is WAY haunting.
You do know that Bonnaroo is in my hometown?? If you are able to come, let me know. I would love to meet Hangout Boy in person! As for what I am listening to... In my car: "Hounds of Love" - Kate Bush "Sensual World" - Kate Bush "Up" - Peter Gabriel "Peter Gabriel 3 (Melt)" - Peter Gabriel "So" - Peter Gabriel "Security" - Peter Gabriel "Passion" - Peter Gabriel "Long Way Home (Soundtrack)" - Peter Gabriel "I Get Wet" - Andrew W.K. at home: "Screamadelica" - Primal Scream "Conjure One" - Conjure One "Sea Change" - Beck "18" - Moby "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" - The Cure "Mutations" - Beck "The Invisible Band" - Travis "A Hundred Days Off" - Underworld "The Stone Roses" - The Stone Roses "The Isness" - Future Sound of London It will be time to buy some more after another week.
No. But it's still priced cheap, and I like the review at allmusic.com, so I may look for it this weekend if I'm out. Plus some guy on amazon really knows how to get me interested: "...a great big bouncing top down sunny day driving album rock ball of fun."
Yea, it is about the only furniture I got...lol. I actually have 3 bedrooms and only use 1 since I'm a single loser. If the traffic is anything like it was for this past one, you will need to get here like a week ahead of time!
SACD is Super Audio CD; most (nutcase) audiophiles deplore compact discs and still play LP's. The knock is that CD's play a sample of the total information (sound) being reproduced whereas analog reproduces the whole thing. CD's are also thought to be harsher in the upper range (which I agree with) SACD's address this and....well....just sound a lot better. The player I got though, is also known to play Redbook (standard) CD's better. The problem is that SACD's will probably never take off (although a bunch of earlier Rolling Stones just got released on the format). Still, the few I have sound incredible.
Thanks Sonny and Pole for the SACD info. I had no idea. I did albums, then cassetts, then CD's, which I'm now converting to MP3's. I doubt I'll make an additional move to SACD's like I have when adopting new technology in the past. I'm older now and don't have as much expendable income to spend on the finer things in life like CD's and video games. oomp & mateo - fine choice's for a day like today. Every day is a good day for a little Floyd.
