Every fan of every team says their team has bad losses every season. What's yours for this year? LAC- Pretty much pick a game. Our 1st home game is the worst to me. Had a comfortable 4th Q lead, then collapsed. Don't believe either team was backend. Please add which game in particular if you wish. OKC- The infamous "greatest point diff per half" game... on national TV. Rockets were backend, but that fact was rarely mentioned. CHI- Worse loss, IMO. Get whopped days after the Spurs whopped them, coming off a though loss vs OKC. Led to our first 3 game losing streak this season. Crap effort on national TV. DAL- Always good to beat these dudes. Game 2 @DAL where we collapsed comes to mind in particular. IND- Complete beatdown on national TV.
A lot of time has passed, but I still think it's the Lakers' loss. Horrible opponent. Big game for Dwight. They couldn't miss a 3, yet still the Rockets climbed the mountain and came ALL the way back in the fourth quarter... only to lose on a Steve Blake buzzer-beating three right over Dwight's fingertips. Yeah, that one hurt.
I agree. That one was tough. The Nuggets loss would have been up there simply because of the huge lead and the free throw disparity.
the Lakers one was alright, since it was still early in the season and the team was still gelling. Watching the Bulls game live was horrible, we knew the bulls were an inferior team, and the Rockets couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and even the commentators were saying how the offensively-challenged Bulls were running circles around the Rockets.
The Chicago game. Not that the loss was so bad, but they just seemed to quit, which really bothered me. The second loss to Memphis bothered me a lot too. Close losses are only bad in the moment, and I mostly shook of the early season losses to just being part of the teams growth.
My worst losses are the ones to horrible teams. The loss to Utah, the loss to Philly. Losing to the Kings... twice! Ugh...
Lakers loss early was the worst one. It was a fluke. And it helped end the Twin Towers experiment which should have continued. And the worst part was Dwight was the main culprit because of his piss poor free throw shooting. We win that game and we are 6-2 coming out of the Toronto game. Instead we lose by one point with Dwight going 5 for 16 from the foul line. The Laker loss was a fluke that helped produce another fluke (Jones' shooting the ball well for 1 month this season) that hindered the development of the Twin Towers and drug us through the swamp of Asik's pouting and trade demand and stalled us out at fighting for home court advantage in the first round instead of challenging for best record in the West. By the way, interesting fact about the TT experiment, Dwight came out of the gates those first 8 games shooting 41 for 87 from the line for an abysmal 47%. Since then, Dwight has shot 56%. Neither Asik nor Jones had anything to do with that.
Clippers games sting the most IMO because its a very hopeless feeling against them. They have simply dominated the Rockets in every way during the season, and when you get beat by them you usually have to deal with DJ/BG facials, and CP3 flops & b****ing which twists the knife pretty deep.
Wow, this could be a long list.:grin: I guess it depends on what kind of loss: Most disappointing loss - At home against the Lakers early in the season. The Rockets were embarrassed defensively by a bunch of scrub players and Dwight wound up bricking so many free throws late that it set up that Steve Blake heartbreaker with just a few seconds remaining. Most inexcusable loss - At Philly. The Rockets were without Harden, but the Sixers were shorthanded as well without I believe Carter-Williams. And we had a 3 point lead late with a foul to give and allowed James Andersen to get off a game-tying 3 that forced OT where we lost. One of the rare games this season where you could literally point to a play where McHale's coaching did cost the team a victory. Most embarrassing loss - At Chicago hands down. At least the massacre in Indiana was early in the season when the Pacers were tearing up the league. And the OKC collapse at home involved only one bad half(albeit an absolutely pathetic one). The Rockets did put up 73 in the first half that night. Plus it was on the 2nd night of a B2B. With the Bulls, we were rested and healthy whereas Chicago was shorthanded and not playing particularly well at the time. But for some reason, no one outside of maybe Lin showed up from the opening tip. And to add insult to injury, it was televised on national TV.
That Lakers loss at home was the worst for me. I just remember being mad beyond belief losing to those scrubs and at home too
The Thunder loss was the most horrifying to watch. The Chicago one did the most to shake my faith in the team, though.
