Here's something for you to answer. There are lots of things we would all be willing to do for money, but is there anything you simply would NEVER do for ANY amount of money? What is off limits? Anything? ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
I would never kill a family member I cared about for money. I would never drink a bottle of snot. I would never amputate a body part. There's a lot of things I wouldn't do. ------------------ My dream job is to be a Houston Rockets towel-boy.
I would never kill anybody for money. Even if it was a family memer I didnt care about. I would never smuggle or sell drugs. Besides that every thing is fair game (I think). ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Posting in stupid threads is not FUN! 2. Spelling, grammar, punctuation and sentence structure are not FUN! 3. Jeff, I would simply act according to my conscience. I don't really understand what the purpose of this question is, as the value you seem to place on money is inflated. There are a lot of things I would simply not do for money, and most of these things go for so many others as well. I think you might have to change this question a bit and ask: "Would you do X for money?" These might include: 1) Would you pose nude for money*? 2) Would you cheat people for money (business practice, etc.)? I think these type of controversial questions might get a better discussion going. By the way, keep similar topics coming Jeff! *If you are a damn hot chick and your answer is yes, we here at the Clutch BBS might be able to get the funds flowing. ------------------ Nederland 2002 Qualifying Campaign (Damn those penalties!!!) There was a tv reporter in Dallas (Jeff Crilly, I believe from Fox4) who was trying to do one of those "What would you do for a million dollars?" stories going. But the question he ended up using was, "Would you spend the night with Heather Locklear for a million dollars?" Let's see, I spend the night with Heather Locklear, and I get a million dollars. Hmmmmm. Let me ponder that. As for the original question. There aren't many illegal or (what I would find to be) unethical things I would do for money. I just feel to bad cheating people and I have too big a fear of prison to do anything that was really illegal (and I could never kill a person regardless). But I guess I couldn't know specifically what I would or wouldn't do until presented with the situation. (It's easy to take the high road on hypothetical questions. Sometimes it is harder to take the high road in real life.) Now, I would pose nude for money. But, I guarantee that most folks would rather pay me to not pose nude. It sure seems easy to say, "I wouldn't do this or I wouldn't do that for money." But, how about this.... What wouldn't you do for $350 million $350,000,000 Or What wouldn't you do for $25 billion $25,000,000,000 It's easy to "say" what we wouldn't do for money, but if that opportunity actually presented itself, many people would fall to that temptation. That being said, I wouldn't kill anyone I wouldn't do anything that would haunt me, and I overanalyze things much more than the average person. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. I wouldn't do anything that conflicted with my opinions. It doesn't matter what the amount of money is no one could ever pay me to go against my ways. I feel my beliefs are worth more than cash. Although it would also depend on the situation I was in. My list of what I wouldn't go against could quickly change if I the money was necessary. Like with the Rockets arena deal. In the end I guess I wouldn't know until the offer was proposed. ------------------ please venture to atheistalliance and rocketsonline I AM SPARTACUS
As far as what I wouldn't do for money. I guess the only thing I would not do is compromise my soul. What's that bible verse? "What profit a man if he should gain the whole world, but lose his soul?". Hey Jeff, not to derail your thread, but here's another way to look at this question. If you knew that it would solve all the hatred in the world, could you take another human life? ------------------ [This message has been edited by mc mark (edited August 13, 2000).]
Rimy, I'm with you. I just don't think I would want to deal with the consequences. I find you comment interesting, "Hate is necessary for the world to continue". I find that somewhat sad. [This message has been edited by mc mark (edited August 13, 2000).]
mc mark, No, for two reasons: 1. I could never, never do harm to someone else. 2. Hate is necessary for the world to continue. ------------------ "The living room is the factory... The product being manufactured... is you."
mc, I agree, it is sad. Unfortunately, I feel that it is too much in human nature. A world without hate would be unnatural. A world without conflict would suffer. Apparently, we as humans need these things in order to grow. We need hate to create fear to increase technology, we need conflict to keep us busy, to keep challenging ourselves. In this way, we do not stagnate. We need hate to garner public support of governments. We need hate to help the population to decide who the next president will be. It is all useless, but it is also essential. Go figure. ------------------ "The living room is the factory... The product being manufactured... is you."
There are a lot of things, including killing someone nad running for public office, that I would not do no matter how much money was thrown my way. I posed a very similar question (what wouldn't you do for $1 million?) to a bunch of Commercial Real Estate salesmen when I worked at a Commercial RE firm in West LA. In short, the group of them (10 or so) told me there wasn't anything they would not do for $1 million, including having sex with family members. I haven't worked in that industry since! ------------------ Bring It!!
A million dollars is not enough money in 2000. But for 25 billion, I would do practically anything, anytime, anywhere short of killing a family member. A bottle of snot for 25 billion? Sh*t, bring me the lime that will smooooooooth the taste as it goes down, baby! ------------------ I Want To Thank God For Making Me A Rocketfan
I wouldn't clean a public restroom with my tongue for any amount of money. Would anyone else? And if so, what would be your asking price? ------------------ "Have we not here the best cards in the game to win this easy match played for a crown?....." Bill Shakespeare

Almu, I'm glad someone is thinking in real dollars and cents, and not just hypothetical. $25 Billion is a whole lotta dinero. ------------------ I have a dream.........his name's Hakeem. DREAMer's Rocket Page
Hate doesn't make the world go round. It inhibits it. While it may produce results, if we did not have hate, we would get twice as much progress done. Hate destroys. Cooperation builds. We have done more in peacetime than we could ever do when at War. If you think that things like the space program and heart surgery would have never come to pass without hate, then you are underestimating the human spirit. You get more done when you put minds together, rather than pitting them against each other. How many times do we have to prove this. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
