i just wana know ya'lls opinions. i have no clue what they should do with the chinese gov. n everything.. what do yal think?? trade down, pick up butler take chances with ming?? trade the pick?
I think that if they do not pick up Ming we do not get a second run. I think that they will pick up Ming and see him after training camp. It's totally worth it especially after his contract obligation is fulfilled with the Sharks. He will be able to play here full time. We do need a wing man badly but I think that Lamar is too slow although he has nice game. And imagine an NBA savvy Ming the same one who through Payton, Carter, and Garnett's stuff out when they went to the rack in the Olympics. Which takes me to the second pick I think that we can move up if we trade another future first the 15 and KT to get a guy like Woods who I think will be the sleeper pick. That's what I would do and I think that Ming is a no-brainer.
Do not take Ming , We will regret the day ever thinking about taking. We need low post presence not high post shooter.
Ming is a no brainer. We have no brains if we take this risk. The Rockets have a lot of pieces. We need one more player to get us to the playoffs. If we have the opportunity to turn the No. 1 pick into Odom or McDyess, or someone of that caliber . . . I'd take that bird in hand than some 21 year old phenom whose success may be dictated by the whim of a force that is totally beyond our control. CD and Rudy want some assurances from the Chinese govt. Assuming they get some assurances, how much solace can we take from that? What are the rockets going to do, sue the Chinese govt? It's a freakin shell game with the Chinese govt and Sharks. After this last report about the Sharks want the Rockets to commit to drafting Ming, and then the Sharks will negotiate . . . that should clearly demonstrate that they think they have all the leverage and that we should bend to their will. We can't assume that the Chinese govt will let Ming do anything. Also, assuming he is allowed to play here, he will be forced to play on the Chinese nat'l team during our offseason, which guarantees that he will be burned out on hooops, and probably develop injuries like stress fractures. True, we need a serious interior presence. Why don't we just give Griffin time to grow. He has demonstrated he is a good kid that is willing to play D and rebound. Let's teach him to play with his back to the basket. Want a bruiser? I do. Let's get Hilario or Stoudamire. They don't need to score. They need to rebound, defend and dunk. I'm beginning to wish we had not gotten No. 1. I'm beginning to wish we had No. 3 or 4, so we could just take Butler or Dunleavey.
Right. Only by trade. I think if you don't move into the Top 3 in the lottery, you can only get bumped by one (or more) of the Top 3 dropping out of the Top 3. Get it?
In essence, true. It's a either or nor situation. Go to the head of the class or stay the same seat. We take Ming and everything that goes with it. Everything else is an illusion. After the first 6 or 7 picks, we evaluate, then possibly work a trade up from # 15 depending who's still on the board, or not. I' d like to see a way to dump Mo Taylor and Glen Rice. Believe me - the Rockets will have done their homework (a majority behind closed doors). Think about it ....every time a big names became available through the years, the Rockets somehow made it happen - Barkley, Pippen, Francis, Griffin. Even Mo Taylor would had worked out had he kept his head out of the bag of weed and his appetite away from the cinnamon crispas. Tell me you intuitively knew we were going to get the 1st pick since regular season ended and I say I believe you. I knew also.
