http://www.msnbc.com/news/372246.asp BIG MAN COMING, HILL GOING? Matt Guokas says the Pistons new up-tempo offensive philosophy is ideal for Grant Hill and Jerry Stackhouse, who are combing for about 50 points per game. What isn’t ideal is Detroit’s defense, or lack thereof. Guokas says the Pistons suffer from matador defense on the perimeter and nobody to erase the mistakes inside. According to Guokas, the Pistons’ players are practically begging management to make some kind of deal for a big man who can defend and rebound. The loss of Bison Dele, who unexpectedly retired, has really left a big hole in Detroit’s middle and the club would like to do something about that by the trade deadline. As for Hill, he has an escape clause in his contract. If he so chooses, Hill can leave the Pistons after this season. Isiah Thomas says Pistons’ management should ask Hill to make clear his position. If Hill won’t definitively declare his intentions, Thomas feels the Pistons must explore the possibility of a trade to see what they could get for Hill. Peter Vecsey says reports Hill hasn’t made up his mind about his future appear accurate. Hill’s agent told Vecsey that Hill does not know what he wants to do after this season. Pistons’ coach Alvin Gentry told NBC Sports that he’s very concerned that Hill might opt to leave Detroit if the Pistons don’t show some progress via a trade or a free agent signing after the season. http://www.msnbc.com/news/372246.asp
what would we have to do to get this player (Grant Hill) here? Francis + Thomas + 4.5 M exception + end of the bench players to make the number work. Still want Hill?
