Atlanta is thinking about trading the #11. What player or package would you give for the #11 and perhaps a current Hawk?
They need a point guard ... give them Rafer ... ... Rafer would do well there ... but, I doubt they'd take him. Rafer would do better in the NE where he was a legend.
I'm guessing anything but Tracy, Yao, and Shane. In other words, nothing Atlanta would particularly want.
They can have Battier. The problem is, they don't need him, as a basketball player. They only need him for his "leadership" . So... we got nothing. I'd love to trade for Sheldon Williams and the pick. We just don't have anything to trade. Head? Alston? Battier? Big whoop.
If the Rockets really wanted to shake things up, they would try to trade TMac for Joe Johnson and the pick, and maybe another young lotto player. Both teams could make the trade. Atlanta exits JJ's long contract for a shorter one, with a brighter star, Houston exits Tmac's bad back and picks up a pick, and possibly another young player. But they won't. That's just my idle thought.
Best guess, the only chance would be Rafe - Claxton + #26 & future #1 and/or Atlanta being 'in love' with Span or Head or Novak or or ...
How about this: Atlanta Trade Breakdown Outgoing Marvin Williams 6-8 SF from North Carolina 13.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.8 apg in 33.8 minutes Solomon Jones 6-10 PF from South Florida 3.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.2 apg in 11.6 minutes 2007 Draft #11 Pick 0-0 from No games yet played in 2006/07 Incoming Shane Battier 6-8 SF from Duke 10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.5 minutes Change in team outlook: -6.2 ppg, -3.4 rpg, and +0.1 apg. Houston Trade Breakdown Outgoing Shane Battier 6-8 SF from Duke 10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.1 apg in 36.5 minutes Incoming Marvin Williams 6-8 SF from North Carolina 13.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.8 apg in 33.8 minutes Solomon Jones 6-10 PF from South Florida 3.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.2 apg in 11.6 minutes 2007 Draft #11 Pick 0-0 from No games yet played in 2006/07 Change in team outlook: +6.2 ppg, +3.4 rpg, and -0.1 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Houston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Yao & Tracy are in the primes of their careers and the window of opportunity is closing in a few years. So tell me again why we're talking about making a trade for the 11th pick who likely won't be able to contribute right away?
true but the rockets are trying to win right now, and they have a need for shane. are the hawks in need of another SF? are they trying to win right now? no to both. so why would they overpay for shane as the rockets did?
This trade works through Realgm trade checker: Shelden Williams Salim Stoudamire 11th pick for Rafer Alston Luther Head 26th pick Why Atlanta does this trade: Atlanta needs help in the backcourt. This gives them some nice pieces. With the 3rd pick in the draft they can target the best available player (probably another PF) like Brandan Wright or Al Horford. Why Houston does this trade: They get a decent point guard off the bench with Salim and a big young girthy rebounder in Shelden. With the 11th pick they can gamble on another PF . Rockets Roster PG - James/Stoudamire/Lucas or V-Span SG - Mcgrady/Snyder SF - Batteir/Bonzi/ Novak PF - Hayes, Williams, 11th pick C - Yao, Deke
"THUMBS" you are over estimating Battier value he cannot bring an 11 pick and Marvin Willams who is already a better offensive player than him. It is a fantasy deal.
Give them our "glue" guys - Battier and alston. For the 11 and whichever one of their promising young forwards that they wouldn't mind giving up.
Hawks will not take Alston over Acie Law!!! Plain and simple. Trading their 3rd to Portland seems far more likely. If the Rockets want the 11nth they would have to give up more than that pick is worth.
Aren't they under the cap? So they can take back as much as they're under the cap? I would deal Alston + Head + #26 for their #11 and Batista (or whatever throw in). Head and Alston would fit in there and they both have very good contracts. They have the #3. I think they would rather trade the #3 though because at this point it's looking like the #11 pick in the draft will be as god as the #3 pick, and they will get more out of trading #3.
I actually think that would be beneficial for both teams...throw Josh Smith into the mix and that'd be a steal for us
So your story is... keep the same old unathletic standstill shooters that can't create their own shots nor beat the Jazz...plug them into an uptempo system and halfcourt sets that require motion and precision passing...and we'll narrow the talent gap to the Spurs, Mavs and Suns with the upside provided by Battier, Head, Alston and an MLE. Brilliant.
