He wouldn't have the time to do both jobs.

He would probably fail since he has no experience that I am aware of in the NFL.

He'd draft the Texas Tech QB every year with the 1st pick

Did Morey have any NBA experience before taking the SVP of Operations and Information with the Celtics (that led to him taking the Rockets Ass. GM spot then to the GM)?

Granted he'd probably need some time to figure out the NFL, but I'm hedging that he'd pick up things quick and be successful. I wonder if there are actual Moneyball execs in the NFL or if it can be applied.

Yep he also would not have signed or drafted:

Robaire Smith, Ahman Green, Corey Bradford, Stacey Mack, Milfred Brown, Tony Hollings, Dave Ragone, David Carr, Travis Johnson, Seth Wand, Matt Stevens, Zach Wiegert, Tony Boselli, Jason Babin, Tony Banks, Todd Wade, Philip Buchanon, Morlon Greenwood, Jerome Mathis, Bennie Joppru, Samkon Gado, Wali Lundy, Eric Moulds, Michael Boulware, Ron Dayne, Chris Myers, Sage Rosencopter or Anthony Weaver

Essentially EVERY free agent signing has been a bust (except maybe Kris Brown and Kevin Walter) and the draft has had more misses than hits.

There is a whole lot of FAIL in that list and you wonder why the Texans have never made the playoffs.

    If that is the case
would he pay 40+ Mill plus 2 2nd round draft picks for Schuab?

    I think not

Odd thing is you got guys like Marlon McCree, CC Brown, Phillip Buchanon and Michael Boulware starting or doing well with other teams, and Texans' secondary has been a thin position for a while. Samkon Gado's still in the league even. Something with the Texans brings out the bust in players.

All you can state is what Morey wouldnt do, cuz its still hard in the NFL to say what you SHOULD have done. Morey might can find some "foreign" talent out the Canadian league or something. The Luis Scola of the CFL.

Schaub, A. Johnson & Mario Williams would all get injured and he would find nice roll players and people would call him God for some weird reason and say only if we were healthy we would be champions.

Ron Dayne, arguably one of the most dominant backs in NCAA history... BUST.

He was a load, and definitely put on some pounds in the league, but I think his stats were inflated at Wisconsin due to the competition in the Big 10. The defenses in that conference tend to lack the raw athleticism and elite speed of SEC and Big 12 units, as Big 10 'backers are typically slower, more polished players who have a high football IQ and a nose for the ball.

Dayne occasionally busted 30-40 yard runs at Wisconsin, as he could out run the secondaries of Indiana and Northwestern with ease, but once he hit the big stage he found that it wasn't as easy. Try running away from the likes of Champ Bailey, Patrick Willis, or DeMarcus Ware. Not that easy.

IMO, he would've never broken the record in the SEC, and probably not in the Big 12.

What Ricky Williams did at Texas was a hell of a lot more impressive in my book.

I am thinking a prototypical Morey signing would be someone like Jeff Garcia when he first hit it with the Niners.

He would probably buy or trade his way into multiple middle-to-late round picks and use them to draft some 5'6'' 160 lb RBs or someone else undervalued due to physical attributes that may or may not matter.

You mean like trading for Artest?

2 first rounders/Bobby Jackson and taking on his contract

Does Moneyball work in the NFL?

The Astros are in dire need of Moneyball.
