to get everyone fired up about the Rockets....in other words, what personnel move would it take to get everyone giddy again? Be realistic!
I know winning consistently would get everyone giddy, but let's think in terms of moves that make sense and will get everyone fired up...like....would Wallace get everyone excited
thats it...just win. Im one of the few around here that believes in the bunch we have, I have seen flashes of what they can achieve...and if they could ever do it on a consistent basis..fugggedabatit I would be as giddy as Hangout Boy backstage at a DMB concert. montgo...you are assuming that everyone thinks we need moves...I dont think we do...but if we could get Sheed without giving up anyone important..it would make me pretty happy.
Rashard Lewis would. T-Mac, R. Strickland, and Hunter would make me giddy. True scorer, true PG, and a cheaper, younger version of Kelvin Cato.
Fans wanna see McGrady, Bryant, Shaq and whoever here...we take for granted that we have All-Stars at the two most significant positions in the NBA. Apparently people dont understand how long it takes to fully commit and understand a new system, both offensively and defensively.
Actually I do think we are weak at the 4 and 3, though the 4 is becoming more and more weakening as teams learn that Kato cannot guard beyond the paint. That is not an attack, but he is way out of position more nights than not. So, I feel as though shuffling the lineup and replacing the loss of Eddie Griffin and putting Cato back to the backup 5 and occassional 4 would best for the team. But, Cato is also someone you may have to give up to get a formidable or backup 4....unless Spoon can bring it again....
I know where you were going with this mango, but the Rockets can make trades untill they are blue in the face - if the result is not more wins it won't get anyone fired up. The move itself may inspire more calls to 610, but not butts in the seats. Hey if Wallace came here - I bring him up because you did - and the Rockets went on to win 50+ games then people would start to show up. If it's the same ol' inconsistant play we've become accoustomed to, then people will still use there entertainment dollar else where trade or not. It's all about the wins! Your question should be what move would inspire more wins - but that's being asked in every thread on this board just about.
Let's face it, If the Rox end up 50-32 and get to the second round, I think fans will come more consistently next year...but I am talking this year....we would have to put a major run in place to get it rocking...but a personnel move would put Les in position to say, "you see we ar enot sitting on our hands!" I am not demanding a move, just wondering what is realistic for us if we wanted to and how that compares to the fan base structure... really, though this team should be hitting the cylinders soon and we are not near....though flashes do appear...but, getting a 4 that is formidable would help Yao too....
I guess if you're specifically asking for a trade, then T.J. Ford or Rashard Lewis would do the trick.
More than winning, I wanna see offensive consistency and a little fire in the belly. I wanna see the team letting it all on the line. I wanna see players scrap for loose balls. I wanna see a win-it-all now attitude. I don't want to see players who think they have talent and upside. I wanna see the heart of a champion back in Houston.
Honestly guys, I don't think there is anyone in the NBA that we could realisticly get that would have everyone up in arms saying "I must go see they Rockets just to see this guy play." I mean outside LeBron, Shaq, McGrady, Kobe, Garnett, etc.. but you aren't getting any of those type players. So the only thing that will get fan fired up is winning. What players might bring about those wins. Wallace would accomplish the "more wins" part but he's not the type to build around and thus isn't the type of player to put us over the top. SAR is someone I'd like to see the Rockets take a chance on but again he's nothing more then a complimentary player(albeit a damn good one). Those are the two big names you hear on the block, but you never know - who thought Marbury would have been dealt?
