What would happen If we gave 6-11 Jared Jeffries the SF spot?

I would like to see a starting lineup that looks something like this...

    Aaron Brooks
    Kevin Martin
    Jared Jeffries(6-11)
    Luis Scola(6-10)
    Yao Ming(7-6)

I would argue that Jeffries is a much better defender than Battier at this point, and he would greatly help with our defensive rebounds and rim protection. He is also a much better passer. The seperation in Battier's offensive game is simply not enough anymore to keep him in for extensive minutes.

Jared Jeffries would give us a new, somewhat intimidating, HUGE, lineup, to go with our non defensive backcourt.

I would love to put Jared Jeffries on players like Durant/Lebron(Gave him all kinds of trouble on the Wizards)/Pierce, etc...

Give him Battier's minutes and see what happens, imo...

interesting line up. but I'd rather have this line up in the end game. cuz we suck defensively in the second half.

Might be worth trying when Yao is back. Need to play more of a half court game with him in the game.

it could cause some mismatches because of his height

If Jeffries were someone who could lockdown the top wing players in the league, then he wouldn't have so many DNP-Coach's.

I don't think he's fast enough to defend opposing wings.

The same could be said about Battier and Budinger.

Jared Jeffries, Chase Budinger, Shane Battier.

It doesn't matter. Neither of them make enough of an impact to turn this ship around.

What about (when Rocket's get their health back):

    AB/Lowry/Ish
    Martin/Air Bud/JT
    Lee/(Air Bud)/Battier
    Scola/Hill/Hayes/Jefferies
    Yao/(Hill)/Miller/(Hayes)
    • Lowry can start if AB isn't very well with his ankle
    • Air Bud and JT have to practise more and have more court time
    • Hill/Hayes should come in Scola and Yao

At this point in time i don't know what to do with: Battier, JT, Jefferies and Miller.....

Jeffries was signed to his ginourmous contract for one reason, his defense on Lebron and other big SF's in the playoffs.

I would like to see Rick give our team a new dynamic. Go big.

The pride of Battier says no.

we haven't seen enough of JJ to know he's a better defender at the three than battier or even chase....and where did you get he's a better passer? Battier's been doing fine getting passes in to cutters, especially over the last 2 weeks..I believe he's averaging close to 4 assists during that span.

Im not against experimenting at this point, but i don't agree with the logic of this. I've been asking for JJ to be put out there at the 4 or 5, but i dont think he deserves significant minutes.

He wouldn't be as horrible as Battier at hitting the 3. Takes charges as well or better than Battier. Why the hell not. Go for broke.

You know things are terrible when we are looking to Jeffries to make a meaningful contribution to the team.....other than carrying injured teammates

Scola is not 6'10", it's bad enough that he can't jump over a crack to save his mama's back but if he were 6'10" that's just more humiliation of our front line. I'm going with 6'7" Scola when opposing fans say wtf he can't even jump just a little to save his life?

The thing about mismatches in sports is that an offense on one end can lead to a libility on the other. A boxer with a mismatch in power may be at a disadvantage in speed, a 6-11 player with a mismatch on offense has to guard that smaller player on defense. Shaq would have a mismatch on AB on one end, but think if he had to guard AB.

I say this is a very creative idea but only for situational purposes. We would plummet even further on offense due to a lack of spacing and everyone would be calling to TRADE YAO or FIRE THE COACH because Yao is ineffective. Teams could just pack the paint from the elbow in and roam a guard on the perimeter because you would have no threats beyond 15 feet except Brooks and Martin... if they are hitting that night.

I don't think it's a horrible idea, but if we're on rebuilding mode, we should not look to give much playing time to JJ. We should instead start playing JT and PP to see what those guys can do.

Playing JJ at best will either help us win a few more games or lose a few more games, but JJ is not part of the future plan, so I rather we showcase our young guys instead.
