Winning a championship the last year in the Summit and hanging a banner in the new arena downtown in year 1...

    or

Winning a championship the first year in the new arena?

Personally, I gotta go with the first. The nostalgia, closing out the building with a bang plus the banner ceremony to open the new building, good LORD, would that be good. Also, we can always re-peat in the new building.

Can anyone here imagine what a crazy place downtown will be the first title that is won down there???

    Sorry, just thinking ahead. [IMG]

jeff.. I like how you think, but we better win both.. The problem with the first is as follows.. If we win the last year at compaq center then move and don't win. we will have to listen to 30 plus years of how we lost cause we left the summit. just like we now hear about we lost cause we switched uniforms.. if we don't win the last year in the summit but just the first year. then we will hear about how the only reason we didn't have more titles is because we were in the sorry summit lol.. but if we win both it is safe

I'd prefer a championship in the Summit... give the old building 7 championships instead of just 6 [IMG].

Are they gonna implode the summit afterwards ? Maybe I prefer the new stadium idea. Don't want to leave the banners in there while imploding......

I've got to go with second. What would be a better stage to showcase the new arena than the finals.

I don't know about the summit, but how about the Compaq Center?

I know, I know Jeff, we all wanted it to stay the summit.

I like the idea of winning the championship in The Building Formally Known As The SUMMIT and then winning one in the new arena too.

BTW: I do believe the reason our championship run ran out was b/c of the Uniforms. Go back to the old uniforms!

    Correct, Lakeridge I believe(Lakeview maybe?)

Kind of wierd, so many concerts, football games, Rockets games, Circuses, Wrestling, etc... And it is turning into a church.

The summit will always be special to me.

I'd prefer the latter, although sign me up for both certainly. [IMG]

Maybe Dream will be here, maybe not. But for certain the first championship will be won on the backs of Steve, Cuttino and the other components of a young or at least new generation. A young team with new kick-ass uniforms taking the championship the first year of a brand-new arena would be fantastic. Not to mention, we don't want to win a championship in those PJs, do we? I gotta go with the first.

I gotta say, picturing the banner ceremony as we open the new stadium, not to mention closing out the Summit that way...brings a tear to my eye. [IMG]

If the Summit / Compaq Center is "converted" to a church, there will be precedence for it. Afterall, the Rockets as a team put up many a prayer from the 3-point line, and the fans said a few in the closing moments of some really tense games.
