I'm saying 19 pts, 11 rebs and 3 blocks..same ft% with a slight increase in fg% thoughts? a jump to around 2.6 assists might be in line too
I'm thinking of starting a new poll: "What's your favorite 'What will Yao Average?' poll?" We can dig up the top ten threads on this topic from the last month, and then pick our personal favorite. Sorry. Didn't mean to be so snarky. It's just that this question has been asked over and over again in every possible way. But you asked a sincere question, which deserves a sincere reply. 20 ppg, 10.5 ppg, 2.5 ppg, 3.0 apg. There was a 5 game stretch or so in December when his numbers were close to this. (i'm sure i'm off by a little bit). That December stretch seems a good proxy for what Yao is capable of when he's not fatigued, when he's playing with confidence, and when he's getting the ball. Last December gives us the basic ingredients. Stir in some Van Gundy, a dash of added upper-body bulk, a smidgeon more agressiveness, and some second-year seasoning. You've got yourself a heaping meal of 20-10.
To clarify-- the 3.0 assists weren't there in December, true. This is my expected benefit from Gundy running the offense through Yao.
62.9 points 37.0 rebounds 18.3 blocks 24.4 assists 15.8 steals - 4.4 turnovers (How does he do it? I DON'T KNOW!!!) 97.9 FG % 99.9 FT % 9.3 fouls (I know technically you can only get 6 per game, but come on, he's YAO!)
He will also average 240 minutes per game. (48 * 5). None of the other Rockets will play, just Yao, so the scorekeeper will give him credit for quintiple minutes. Oh, scratch that. This might cut into his assists. He'll only play 120 minutes a game; he'll play alongside Boki. That starting lineup should please the bbs.
well, he gets assists by bouncing it off the backboard to himself and then scoring, this also explains why his rebounds are so low (no offensive). /going along with being ridiculous.
Apollo, there's one more stat that you left out. Something Yao will do next year that will be completely astounding. Shocking. It will make us weep in appreciation of his super-human powers. Are you ready? Because what I'm about to suggest defies logic and would really border on the absurd. Here goes: Yao will win the opening tip-off.
Dude, quit sh*ttin' us. I mean, those other stats may have been somewhat optimistic, but that's just off-the-wall crazy.
I'm hoping he will average 17/8/2/1 assist. Hopefully he won't make too many turnovers. But stats don't matter! JUST WIN!! His defensive positioning needs some improvement. Like location on the court...needs some one to direct him...or tell him where to be..
