Lots of ya'll are calling to ship SF3 off, the way i see it will we really do it? Mark Jackson could be gone as well after this year, so we will have to shop for 2 points? I dont know why CD or JVG would want to start over again. Most of us can agree that steve isnt haveing a great season, but why call for his head when he has done so much for our team in the past and still can.
Have any of yall seen steve play a game with all his heart?
I feel that with how popular steve is in the city and the NBA we will find a spot for him in JVGs game. If we retool in the offseason will the rox really trade steve? Steve does 10 fold the amout of good things on and off the court compaired to his low shooting this year and TOs. And best of all he plays hurt and plays with heart every game plus we havent even seen what he can do in the playoffs.

IF TJ Ford heals from his neck injury and gets full clearance from the doctors to play I would really like to see a trade put together with Milwaukee to have him come home to Houston and run the point for us. How about Francis for TJ and Joe Smith...

If TJ Ford heals from his injury, then Milwaukee won't need to resign both Damon Jones and Brevin Knight who are both free agents after this season. How about keeping Steve Francis and try to sign either Jones or Knight as a free agent to replace Mark Jackson/Mike Wilks? BTW, has Milwaukee really played that much better with TJ Ford in the lineup than without (serious question, I haven't been following their record too closely)?

TJ Ford is not the right player to put on Yao Ming's team.

He can't shoot and his strength is fastbreaking. He's basically a smaller and quicker Jason Kidd.

When TJ got injured Milwaukee went 2-11 so yea I would say TJ definently had a major impact on that teams success. I guess I am just biased though since I watched the guy exclusively while he was at UT and would absoluetely love for him to come back to Houston where he grew up.

Yeah, I loved TJ when he played for UT too. But Milwaukee seems to be doing quite well recently with both Jones and Knight playing very well. There is no way that we can get TJ Ford without giving up a major piece of our team, and like another poster said, he probably doesn't really fit with Yao because he's a poor jump shooter and is best at running the fast break.

Find a Player that knows how to play the position of Playmaker Point Guard, unlike our present one who is a Point Guard in name only.

    hnjjz,

I agree that TJ wouldnt fit with this teams chemistry of playing mostly a half court offense but it sure would be nice to be able to run the fast break some more and TJ is one of the best in the business at that...

I think a true PF is just as important.

I like the Damon Jones FA signing, if we could get em.
But, no on keeping Steve Francis. Cause, then it would be 6yrs of the same old same old flawed pg production. We can't keep giving the guy chances just because the few things he did for us in the past. I say few, cause compared to the pros and cons, there's more cons. He became a three time allstar, has had seasons where he averages near a triple double, and one time got us close to the playoffs (in an ISO, ZONE free era). However, he's been the same redundant pg. A lot of heart, and hussle that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, its like a flip of a coin, that mostly lands on dumb, and I suppose well meant plays. All of which stagger this team's possibilities. I mean, I'd really like to see a team of Yao, Cat, JJ, Mo with a smart playmaker at the one. One with hussle, but with a good basketball intelligent head on his shoulders. If there isn't one, how about atleast a decent one with good hands, good dribbling skills, that can get the ball up and down the court and pass it without hesitation to the open man, and actually knows what the play calls for and what to do?

Hm, I don't know. One that can just get the ball to our players, and dribble without losing the ball? And can shoot the spot up three? We don't really need a slasher really, we have Cat and JJ.

I love StupidMoniker's post. Please include Ron Harper, and maybe Paxon. I think that kind of guy (Harper) is perfect for Yao and a killer wingman. Big, strong, good defender, can dump it off, set a backcourt pick and hit an open jumper. Good ball movement in a triangle with a stud wing, Yao, and a tall facilitator will eliminate traditional Stockton or Jason Kidd-style point duties. The best point for us is a worker bee, not a pimped-up drone.

Great if we can somehow draft or trade for a really dominant player for them to play with.
