Woj said he’d be shocked if he doesn’t get a long term deal

IF we win it all I'm still not sure if you give a 33 year old that kind of money.

4 year deal with a player option, but definitely not at max money...will be given a player option instead of team option because of taking a discount

    that’s my prediction

They would be idiots to let him walk. His value to the team extends beyond his skills. His leadership and ability to hold Harden accountable when his laziness sets in is a big reason they won 65 games.

Our goal is to win a title, not win 65 games. Unless Paul is going to attract Lebron he will cap us out just like his teams were in LA.

    All depends...
IF we were to win it all... AND CP3 cant be had for anything less... then i think u give it to him and hope to parlay your success into another 1 or 2 championships - before the bottom drops out...
but if u come up short this year... then its all about finances...
Then its about if u can add a player or two and then circumvent the cap to give CP3 the money... depending on if ownership is good footing the luxury tax bill....
But if there's no upgrade available... and you've already been shown to be insufficient to winning it all... then I dont see putting yourself in a future hole if its not gonna pay dividends...

If you win 65 games, you have a shot at winning the championship and the Rockets have a shot at beating the Warriors this year because they brought in Chris Paul. He’s still an elite player and a great leader. Harden will actually listen to CP3 when he starts playing lazy basketball. It’s made a huge difference on the court. There’s also no other superstar available other than LeBron that is better than him. PG13 isn’t. Cousins and his torn achilles isn’t.

Also, the Rockets don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting LeBron if CP3 isn’t staying in Houston.

Bottom line, you don’t get rid of players like CP3 if you want a shot of winning a championship in the next couple of seasons.

Whatever happens Paul needs to give us a discount - he'll get paid, but he doesn't need max dollars.

I don’t know what kind of money he’ll get. But are there actually those who believe he won’t be a Rocket next season?

I don't think anyone is questioning Paul's worth.

The question is Paul's worth... 4 or 5 years from now.
