Like the Wheel of Fortune used to be, this is our chance to pick out who we want with that $4.4 million exception. Listed below are guys who make right around the $4 to $5 million range. Keith Van Horne Jerry Stackhouse Erick Dampier Chris Mills Jason Caffey Michael Olowokandi Robert Horry PJ Brown Marcus Camby Jermaine O'Neal Corliss Williamson Antonio Davis Bryon Russell Ike Austin ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Are all those guys available for the exception and make around $4-5 million? It seems to me that Van Horn makes a lot more and that we couldn't get guys like Stackhouse, PJ Brown, Bryon Russell, or Kandi man for just the exception and nothing else of value. I'd pass on most all of those guys that would be available, because they're not that much of an upgrade and would just take up a guaranteed roster spot when we've got 2 1st rounders and a free agent or two coming in next year to add to the guys we already have. ------------------
I would get the Kandi-man. Then see if anyone is interested in Cato. If not we try him at the 4 spot with KT. Then next year we sign Webber. ------------------
Van Horn is signed for just under $5 million. ------------------ Save Our Rockets and Comets SaveOurRockets.com
Keith Van Horn- Makes 9 million Jerry Stackhouse-Makes just 5 million but probably impossible to get Erick Dampier- NO Chris Mills-NO Jason Caffey- Already been traded once which by league rules eliminates him if I'm correct Michael Olowakandi-YES Robert Horry- NO PJ Brown-YES Marcus Camby- YES Jermaine O'Neal- YES Corliss Williamson- NO Antonio Davis- YES Bryon Russell- YES Ike Austin- NO Out of all the listed options that are realistic (Stackhouse isn't), the one I would like to have most on this team would be Marcus Camby. ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Jeff- I think Van Horn's contract is at 9 million, unless this link has the wrong information or something. Where did you hear it was 5 million? http://members.home.net/victony/NJdata.htm ------------------ Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net
Olowokandi - not bad, but we already have Cato and he has more upside than the Kandi Man. Stackhouse - our backcourt is already loaded, no thanks. Russell - sounds nice, but he ain´t coming Davis - not bad... but i´d rather go with... PJ. a defensive specialist and a rebounder. shame that he is not a scorer, but if our SF scores too the team would surely look good... the rest are useless, IMHO ------------------ "Never underestimate the heart of a champion"
Of course, everyone would want Van Horn if we actually knew what his contract was. Other than him, I would just like MArcus Camby. I dont like PJ's game too much, even though I know it is solid and consistent. Kinda reminds me a little of OT back in the day, and while i was a big OT fan, it was really kinda boring to watch...haha ------------------ When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather. we're going to do a sign and trade for mo taylor. he's not going to orlando because they have no moola, and he definitly is not staying with the clips, and since they are sooo cheap that they don't want to pay they're players they are going to be more then happy to trade mo for the exception. ------------------ "When the mind is thinking, it is talking to itself." .... I'd love it if the rockets could get Erick Dampier for the 4.4 mil. exception. ------------------ You ain't gotta like me, you just mad cause I tell it how it is, and you tell it how it might be.
Here's a smart a** idea. Since Chicago has fallen in love with cap space & appears destined to be stuck with it, why don't we trade them the exception for Fizer after they sign him for the amount of our exception? ------------------
1. Rockets had a trade in Outlaw for exception. 2. Outlaw rejects it 3. Magic working a deal with Miami in Outlaw and Mercer for PJ. Think of Orlando's cap situation. ------------------ Now that it seems everyone thinks Rockets blew their picks, you can start reading TDS' 2001 Draft Previews... Draftsource.net
This seems to mean that there's a ton of activity involving our exception, which gives a high chance of it being used. Perhaps Orlando will mortgage us Doleac and/or Harpring for a little more cap space. Or maybe Detroit will hand us Jerome Williams. Maybe Toronto, after failing to grab Cuttino, will want more room for Croshere/Jones/Lewis/Taylor, and they'd give away Davis. I'd like to get Bryon Russell, him and Shandon were the only 2 Utah players I could bare. Him and Shandon would make a good tandem at the corners, assuming Lewis became for certain out of our reach. If the Clippers get Keon Clark, they might be interested in giving Olowakandi up for exception/KT and/or Drew. These are the same tight with their money Clippers and they seem to have jumped overbudget. If I remember correct, KVH's salary is 4.5 this season, but then his new contract kicks in, which is a max deal, long term. On Caffey-I believe he can still be traded, but only in a deal where he's the only player going from his side (similar to Kukoc, there were rumors Philly would later trade him to LA, which they could do, if they didn't have anyone go with him). ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
Has anybody figured out why Kenny Thomas has been getting so much playing time at the Revue? I can understand having a good PG to run the show in Moochie, but KT? Hmmm... maybe one thing points to another? That's it... I'm gonna go out on a limb (fall, and break my neck, probably) and say that KT is outta here. There... I said it. ------------------ Just shut up and post
For good reason, too. Dampier's presence made the Warriors an above-average defensive team in '97-'98 and '98-99 (a 42-43% defensive FG percentage, versus 47-48% last year and the two years before Damp became a Warrior). He has a similar effect on the team's defensive rebounding. This is also why you won't get him. ------------------
Camby is the best player on that list. He would fit in perfectly in Rudy's offense. I agree with D0D's opinion that KT is gone. ------------------ "Don't think twice, its allright"
Why would Camby fit in perfectly with Rudy's offense? He can't hit a jump shot like Kenny. It would be like having two Cato's on O. ------------------
I would really like the Rockets to get a tough enforcer like PJ Brown or Bo Outlaw. My biggest concern is that this frontline will become soft and that spells disaster with the frontcourt talent in the West. As I have said in other posts, I dont think KT can D up against the better PFs in the NBA. I was absolutely disgusted at how he could not hold any type of position on defense at the Rocky Mountain Revue. I figured he would have gotten better over the offseason in this area, but I did not see much improvement at RMR. I hope the Rockets were overplaying him in order to showcase him for a trade. I would love it if he gets traded. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
