http://www.barackobama.com/issues/ http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf Really, there's a lot there and any paraphrased summary you would get here wouldn't do it justice.
Well the dirty secret is he hasn't quite figured it out.... But "CHANGE" and "HOPE" sure sound good and can be whatever you want them to be.....lol
Why do you use question marks for declarative sentences and exclamations for interrogative sentences? Or should I say... Why do you use question marks for declarative sentences and exclamations for interrogative sentences!
I've agreed on this point in the past. (Admittedly) at only a quick glance, the website posted above seems fairly descriptive, no? He doesn't say how he's going to do some of things (I glanced at energy, for example), but I like his vision, at least. Doesn't mean I'm gonna vote for him. I'd still like to hear the 'how's.'
I like to hear the how's on both side to tell you the truth. McCain has only stated what he wants to do but now how. Just like Obama.
And on that basis alone, Obama's seems to be the better platform. Plus, he has outlined a lot of "hows," far more than his GOP opponent.
Restore relations with other foreign governments Get our troops home and out of a fraudulent war that is hurting our country and economy. Begin to Normalize relations with Cuba Overturn the ban on Internet poker by taxing it. Remove the capital gains tax on startups, and increase the capital gains tax on investment. Just to name a few. DD
I kinda sorta gotta disagree....and agree at the same time. I know where they both stand re: social issues (gay marriage, abortion, and the like). Were we not in a war and an energy crisis, I'd vote Democrat easily. McCain has made his positions clear on Iraq from day one, and re: energy has openly said to drill in ANWAR and off the Florida coast. I know Obama has become more centrist on the war ('listening to the generals on the ground') and has (I think) indicated some willingness to reexamine drilling, but I really don't know to what extent. He doesn't WANT to drill, I know that, and I agree with him (and McCain) that drilling isn't a long-term solution. Some people accuse them both of flip-flopping, which I think is sheer stupidity. Gotta be malleable....can't be so rigid that you're incapable of changing your mind or seeing another point of view.
Good idea. Bad idea. We started it. Gotta clean up our mess. Good idea. Good idea. Greek to me. Sounds pretty, though.
Has he? He supports the Bush administration, which is currently setting up a timetable, but is against any sort of timetable. So, what is his position? He's against drilling in ANWAR, though he picked an energy expert as his VP who's one of the primary proponents of it. He is for drilling off the Florida coast, though Florida is opposed to it. Obama has always stated his plan would have to be dictated by conditions on the ground because it was important not to leave Iraq in a worse mess - he took a lot of crap in the primary for not committing to a specific timetable that he could guarantee troops out by. For drilling, he's stated that if drilling is needed to pass other legislation, he'd consider it. It would depend on the legislation, and he's come out in support of the Gang of 10 compromise, I believe.
You are the only one who actually answered with a few positions. Yes, I can go to the candidates' respective websites, but I don't really think people understand the actual issues that will affect us: In My Opinion Only: Health Care Reform -- Advantage Obama Sane Energy Policy -- Advantage McCain Conduct of the War -- Advantage McCain Conduct of Foreign Policy -- Advantage Obama Tax Reform -- Advantage Tossup Immigration -- Advantage Tossup We know more about the family, personal issues than the actual issues. Since we are not going to let Palin's family issues rest, I'm going to be curious as to what Obama has done for his half-brother living in squalor in Kenya.
