probably has to get out of the first round. personally, I think he's done enough already to warrant a one year extension. But failure in the playoffs could end his tenure here

I really think that he has to make it to the Finals ATLEAST!

Because i just cant help but feel that he is not using his players to their full potential. He's doing good so far with a good record, but I'm positive we couldve had a better one.

    NOT COMPLAINING, just talking.

So you believe the Rockets roster is more talented than the Spurs, Suns, and Mavs?

If everyone is healthy it is 2nd round or bust.

I do think Les appreciates his coaching abilities, but is probably tired of his negative demeanor - it doesn't do much for ticket sales.

Other than coaching, I think JVG buying the Red Rowdy tickets is going to help him get an extension....

I voted get past first round, but I think we at least need something intermediate. If we are for example swept by the Mavs (which could realistically happen), I would not renew his contract. So, it requires getting out of the first round + taking the Mavs to seven games. Which would of course make the loss to them very painful...

You didn't give the option, "He has to want to come back."

well its not really about the players as it is the offense! The offense is pretty much a give it to Yao and Tmac and see what happens. To a greater degree its give to Tmac and let him decide.

I think he's going to get an extension no matter what...although I think he has to get past the first round for it to be multi-year.

Yes i do, comparing to the spurs:
    We have tracy,they have manu?
we have shane and skip..they have tony parker?(skip adn battier could easily win that one)
    we have YAO..they have TD?
All of that is in our favor
those are just key players, but our role players support just as much, the only threat from the spurs that i see is robert horry.JHo might have to step it up mroe than usual.

    To the Suns:
Yao over Amare..Amara is way quicker, but yao is more diverse.
Nash can eat skip, but seeing rafer's one of the leading steal-ers in the league today, well this could be a nice matchup offensiveley and defensively.
McGrady can put up against Marion,or anyone.
The suns are really deep and can attack from numerous directions.BUT,do not take the rockets defense lightly.

    And to the Mavericks?:
We dont have much to contest dirk, we can throw doubles at him if needed,it'll be hard for us to stop him.
The other way around, dirk's support is good, but not as good if the rockets were used to their full potential
THEY HAVE NO ONE THAT CAN KEEP MCGRADY DOWN.
Battier will show threats if our main players are in a hastle.
Skip proves that IT IS POSSIBLE to have good games, just less shots would be some help.

WE have a great bench. Luther,Deke,Jho,Snyder,Bonzi( that can be another starting lineup for a bad team.)

All this to say that we can be better than any team in this L, and that our players arn't having their entire juice squeezed out. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure JVG has something special for this post season. Atleast, i hope so.

Is it just me or have the Rockets not already stated that the ball is in JVG's court and that they would have already inked an extension.

I think HE wants to see how far these guys will take him. Not the Rox are waiting to see how far JVG can take the team.

JVG wants to win bad. The lottery probably killed him. He will walk on his own without a first round victory.

If JVG isn't extended then I see Tom Thibodeau being promoted, ala Phil Jackson taking over for Doug Collins in the Bulls years, Tom won't change philosophies and it will be a smooth transition, instead of basically starting over from scratch with a new coach, say a Rick Adelman that will shift our philosophies from defense to offensive minded.

Getting out of the first round and being a very tough out in the 2nd round will get the extension.

I think he has to win at least three championships in a row to get an extension. And then, only if he starts smiling more and being nice to his players.

It would help if he grew back some hair and started wearing elevator shoes as well.

    ;)
