Maurice, it appears, did not testify therefore he did not do what the Webbers did - lie to a grand jury. That is what is getting Webber in trouble, not the fact he took the cash. I don't know if it was "illegal" to take the cash. Perhaps it would have caused their team to forfeit a title (even years later), or if caught while in school to be suspended / banned, but that's not illegal/against the law.
The article says Mo admitted receiving the money. The reason Webber is in trouble is he lied about it.
What do you mean, "stand trial." Webber spoke to a grand jury. Seems like the booster was being indicted, not Webber. Webber just foolishly lied under oath. Is it against the law for players to take money. Against the NCAA rules, yes, but against the law?? Seems that Maurcie would first have to be called in as a witness, then lie, for him to be in trouble. I think we'd know that by now, since Traylor, Bullock and Rose were mentioned in the thread.
It says that Traylor, not Taylor admitted to taking money. It also doesn't mention whether or not Taylor testified to a grand jury. This article doesn't clear up much on Mo, but I would expect that he would have been indicted at the same time if he were guilty of the same thing as Webber.
I'm just shooting from the hip here, but I seem to remember about 3-6 months ago Taylor saying, or it coming to light as a fact, that he accepted somewhere in the $80,000 to $90,000 range.
Care to elaborate on why you are laughing? I'm kind of confused. Also, I think you should put more than just a smilie face. To me, this seems like a free post.(JMO.) But it just may be me. It may be ok with Clutch. I've heard about this Mo Taylor thing, but I don't know much about it. I hope he's not in trouble, but it sounds like its just Webber who lied. But like I said, I don't know much.
Okay, I know I have almost zero posts, but I like that azlinconp posts smiles occasionally. Even if they don't make any sense. I'd have a problem if it was just mad faces all the time. As for Mo, he probably took his ca$h to McDonald's before anyone could find any proof that he took it. Just kidding. I'm in Mo's corner, but if he has a lame year, I'm going to bring back heypartner's typo (or was it?): Maurcie. LMAO
Like said, it may just be me. I don't have a problem with funny posts, but just a smilie post seems kind of like nothing. I just don't think it would be good if everybody did that on every post article they liked. But if there is no problem, I apologize. I'm just an evil little grinch I guess.
Well, I can see what you mean if a number of people started just posting faces. One thing I don't really like is when people post like three faces in a row, showing some sort of evolution of feeling. I mean, I just can't follow it. Maybe it's because I'm not in touch with my feelings.
It's seems to me that there is no indication that MOT lied about the money, but then again, he will face the charges of accepting the money!Don't know the legality of it!!
If there's one thing in our great land that will always find a legal loophole it'saccepting money. I don't think anyone's in trouble for accepting it, but they maybe could have lost eligibility in the NCAAs if they'd been caught at the time.
I think that he has been under investigation and that there wasn't enought to take it to court like they have with Webber. It is a lot about getting the most bang for the buck when the prosecution is concerned. they have a big name with a charge that can stick and that is where they will put their resources.
Just FYI to anyone reading this thread, I believe Clutch banned aznlincolnpark yesterday for the unadorned smilie face posts. So onward with text!
