There was inflation - the highest inflation since the 1970's - Do I think that is Biden or Harris or anyone's fault? Not really----- but it existed and that is why Trump won and Harris lost. Americans got sick of seeing their car insurance rates double - their grocery bill going up 40% - the cost of housing the highest it has been in 90 years. Every politician in the USA knows the game - and a Democrat took the fall - and if Trump had won in 2020, the Republicans would be taking the fall today. For all the talk of everything else - it is the economy and always has been.
First, Kamala made a bad pick in Walz. He brought nothing to the table. At least with Shapiro she could have made in roads in PA and Jewish voters. Maybe she thought PA was a lock. Second, I saw a tweet that people put money over humanity by voting for Trump. No ****. I don’t know how the Democrats had such a huge disconnect with public feelings. Do they not poll people? If you are living paycheck by paycheck, you couldn’t give a left nut to protect a woman’s right to choose or what the hell is happening in Ukraine. You care about the cost of groceries and gas and don’t want to hear what you will do when you’re in ****ing power right now.
If she wants to run for Senator or Governor she could probably win - but she isn't going to want to. If everything blows up (which it really could), then she would possibly have a chance in 2028 if she remained relevant - but Trump is the exception to the rule, most of those that lose retire..... and in her case sip wine with her husband while he rubs her feet and they watch a True Crime Net Flix series on husbands filling their wives and lovers.
I agree with you - it isn't happening. I gave the only possible way I could see it even being remotely feasible - and that would require a LOT of things to happen.... from an economic recession, to no democrats emerging and her remaining relevant - and I don't think that she wants to do that - and I don't think it will happen.
We've gotten so used to old politicians that we think Kamala Harris needs a "next". Clinton was president from age 46 to 54. W from 54 to 62. Obama from 57 to 65. She doesn't need to run again in 4 years. Let her enjoy a long political career and take it easy. Enjoy her 60s.
Dems' 2028 candidate needs to be a straight male who is not from one of the coasts. Andy Beshear, Josh Shapiro, Raphael Warnock or maybe Mark Kelly (but probably too boring and not a polished orator). Just say no to Gavin, big Gretch, Klobuchar, etc. Buttigieg is a superior political talent, but too risky being gay. Plus he will probably fade from the scene by not having a real job for four years. Fetterman is not a good speaker and is a health risk.
I'm not a Trump fan, but Trump didn't cause inflation either. The main things that to keep the economy going, the government including Biden pumping trillions of dollars into the economy through unemployment checks and tax credits. Even though, we were coming out of the pandemic, China was still neck deep in it, and couldn't supply the cheap goods to keep up with demand. Companies were trying to keep up with demand, but couldn't get labor to come back from their paid government covid vacation. The did a great job from keep the world from cratering during the pandemic, and the price we had to pay the inflation during our readjustment. There is no free ride and I think the price we paid was a bargain compared to the alternative.
That was primarily PRICE gouging - but it is semantics to the end user it is inflation. But when corporations are having record profits and using those to buy back stock and competition is quashed by monopolies, it looks like inflation. DD
Identity politics doesn’t work on the smart Black women There’s one thing in common for all smart people of different backgrounds they’re smart
it is both. what i find most funny is how one of the key talking points was inflation and the cost of living. where many false claims on social media and forums from magaland about the price of eggs were rightly called out. anyhow, kamala went to battle with $6k family tax credit taking on corporations for price gouging improving wages and conditions via unions no tax on tips yet, magaland called her a communist for it when this would benefit them and cost the besozs, zuckerbergs, the big tech they loudly complain about instead they want trump who like kamala is no tax on tips except remuneration packages for the wealthy will also be considered tips. they basically voted against themselves and for big whatever. also not to forget the tariffs/china trade war which will drive up or extend the cost of living issue.
Gavin is next in line at bat. She won the California coin toss. Besides the Democratic challengers, which pbs journalists called a "Deep Roster", there are also other women and/or minorites in line. Anyhow, I don't think anyone from Cali is electable. Had to abstain voting for Schiff who jobbed Katie Porter of an honorable runoff while I got blasted endless texts from Steve fuggin Garvey up until the last minute. Before Kamala was an everywoman Mamala, she was also an SF insider who introduced community organizer Obama to Dave Chappelle. She needed Obama's charm to pull off a half time senator run. Vance is set for a similar Hyperloop track of ambition...
Fetterman is a better speaker than everyone you listed- people without a graduate degree will understand him and he is quick as a whip. Yeah he has a heart that could explode tomorrow but at least he has appeal and smarts. Plus I fingered a first date under the table at a Buffalo Wild Wings while playing NTN trivia that looked a lot like his wife.
