I posted something about this in another forum, and it got me thinking about this. What was your first post or thread about? (on the CLUTCH BBS btw.) I was a lurker, like many others. I only registered so I could read about Yao Ming. I was too shy to post. I also had never chatted in chatrooms, or posted on another kind of forum. But one boring night I saw Rik Smits playing on ESPN Classic. I some how worked up the courage to post a thread labeled "Rik Smits=Yao Ming." In it I described Smits' performance and asked would Yao be counted on for the same type of performance. That post killed my shyness. I now have been posting in about every forum, in many threads, about many things. So, was any of your first posts like mine?

A lot of people won't remember their first post. I know I don't. I registered and didn't come back for a few months. When I did, I jumped in with both feet. I've been posting all the time. :D

Well then you all are idiots! Just kidding. I thought maybe they wouldn't remember, but some may. I feel like maybe I'll remember mine. Then again its only been about a month since I posted it. I'll admit, I had to search to make sure I had the right thread name.

My first post was about Rudy's inability to use the SF position effectively. I remember the first 5 posters bashed the hell out of me, and I was about to slink away back into lurkerdom, when other people started defending my points. I started huge flame war with my first post :).

    EDIT:

My first hangout post was in response to the Rainey troll's perspective on gun control. Oddly enough, my post precipitated an argument with a poster who I respect more than just about anybody else on this board. He evidently thought I was an idiot for months because of the studies I accepted and didn't accept ;).

Something to do with Olajuwon not coming back to the Rockets. It seems like my first 100 posts were on that topic. Can't remember about my first hangout post.

Why just talk about it? RE-LIVE all of the wonderful memories, the pain, the joy, the unmatched BRILLIANCE of the first A-Train post! Two notes:

    1) Who is this "popeye" guy? ;)
    2) This was back in the days when you could post WITHOUT being registered! Hell, now you have to register just to VIEW the board...

I think I posted that we didn't need to draft Collier because he was just another tall white guy that would suck.

Tons of people got mad because they said that it didn't matter that he was white, and that there were lots of tall white guys that were good.

I agreed that there were some tall white guys that were good, but tons that suck and I thought Collier would suck...then an argument went on about past tall white guys that the Rockets had that sucked and I stayed away from that.

I didn't post again for a while, and I still don't post very often, but lately I have been.

My first post was about a Rockets game I went to vs the Spurs in the 2000-2001 season (we won!). :) I lurked for a while, but I initially found the site when I was searching for Rockets info on Google and I was tired of the lame a$$ ESPN boards...

I don't remember my first post. I know it didn't take long for heypartner to reply, something that made me feel like a bug. Newbies are best left neutralized, I guess, for the old-timers.

I started a thread about whether the Rockets should retire Charles Barkleys number or not. It actully stirred up some controversy, some thought the Rockets should but there were quite a few who didnt.

Mine was either about using the chatroom more during the offseason or some Jordan-for-Sampson trade article at the clutchcity.com board. Ah, memories... :)

I don't know if this was my first one, but it's earliest one I remember. I wrote a poem, Quote the Shandon (or something like that...using Poe's The Raven) back when my handle was Laughinj. This was during the Shandon summer.

I've actually registered twice before, but each time I didn't post that much, and have since changed my e-mail, so I couldn't get my forgotten passwords e-mailed to me.

I honestly don't remember my first post.
