I think not drafting Drexler with the 3rd pick in 83. We could've been the greatest team ever with Drexler, Hakeem, and Sampson
Some have argued that the Rockets could have traded Sampson to Portland for their #2 pick and then choose Jordan. Haha...lots of hindsight here. Then and now, you don't trade great big men. Sampson was like Yao back then and Jordan like LeBron. They had a bad stretch in the late 80's and early 90's...Buck, Chievous, Turner, Jamerson. Who the hell is John Turner('91)??...how come I don't remember him (must've been too busy with puberty) How about worst draft mistake since 1990. I say not picking Rashard Lewis with three chances in '98.
Bryce Drew and Mirsad Turckan. Don't say hindsight is 20/20 on those 2 clowns, because as a 16-year old fan, I knew Rashard Lewis should have been chosen over those 2 scrubs.
I am sick of hearing about Rashard Lewis, but not picking him was a big mistake. Picking Dickerson appears to have been a mistake, as he is not a prime time player for Vancouver now. Trading Najera for Dan Langhi looks bad now. I pesonally wish we had kept Joel Prizbilla instead of trading for Collier.
Be honest, does anyone think that Jordon would be recognized as the greatest player of all time as he's now if he went to Houston and played with Hakeem? I personally don't think so.
i agree with the part of not picking Lewis, But Picking Dickerson wasn't a mistake, he was great for the way the rockets played back then, And he would be one of the best on the grizzlies if hit wasnt for al those injury's
A young Hakeem and a young Micheal Jordan could NEVER, EVER exist on the same time. Regardless of circumstances, regardless of whether or not we were winning championships, these 2 wouldn't co-exist early in their careers. I just want to add that, Collier wasn't a bad pick. If you look at that draft, he's actually worth mroe than his position.
Derrok Chevious! The second coming of MJ. Remember how he would open his mouth real wide when he shot his free throws? He was a total bust.
Man, I didn't like Dickerson from his days at Arizona, that guy always disappeared during tough times. But it wasn't too bad, he helped the Rockets get Steve Francis. I'd have to say the worst mistake since 1990 has to be not drafting Rashard Lewis, they were just so bull headed not to even give the kid a chance in the second round.
Outside of Mirsad Turckan, which has to be the biggest bust as he never suited up as a rocket, Nachbar seems like a great choice for worst draft pick ever. Has anyone (other than Turckan ever played as little as Bostjan? I will say that he looked good in the shoot around before a game in the preseason. But, he hasn't really done anything during the regular season yet.
i really wish the rockets had drafted emanuel ginobilli instead of nachbar, shows that the rockets international scouting needs improvement. ginobilli is an excellent defender, yesterday's game, he had like 20 points and 5 steals. 5 steals. think how much he would improve our defense. kobe wouldn't have gotten by him and dunked on yao.
I think it's a little early to call Nachbar a bust, sometimes it takes a couple years for some guys to pan out.
The John Turner pick still pisses me off. Yeah, I get sick of the "we could have had Rashard" whining too, but ... we could have had Rashard! Mirsad has got to be one of the worst mistakes ever.
Well, Ginobili was drafted about 3 years before Boki. So it's not like we could have just taken Ginobili instead of Nachbar.
The Rockets did not have the opportunity to draft Lewis in the 2nd round. They had 3 first round opportunities.
