Why did Rudy bench Yao? The Rockets didn't have a chance to win in the fourth quarter anyway. Rudy should have just given Yao more minutes, and maybe he would have scored. That would have been something positive to take out of a pathetic, uninspiring opening-night performance.

What about the bullsh!t iso offense???? What about the piddly 8 assist total???? You need to re-do that post and b**** some more because this game definitely deserves more ridicule. Motion offense my ass.

besides steve and cat, cato was the only one with life out there. hard to take him out of the game and replace him with ming when he's playing that well.

Actually, I was impressed with the movement the Rockets were showing away from the ball. They lost this game for several reasons:

    1. Uninspired defense.
    2. Multiple missed dunks/layups/open shots.
    3. Crappy rebounding.
    4. Turnovers.
    5. No bench.
    6. Collier played minutes.

They were missing four forwards people. Don't have a heart attack about one loss on the road.

I remember Rudy was saying that Ming wont be the main choice of offense, he will be more like hanging around and picking up the 2nd chance if others miss. It seems he was serious.

I only hope that this doesn't happen at home, man I thought that this would be the year for contention like one of those teams that come from no where. I hope that this isn't an indication of this year, don't get me wrong I am as big a hoops fan as anyone but this is my team you know what I mean. here's hoping for a home win and a Nugget trouncing next game. BTW Ming although I definitely advocate him looked very slow out there he needs to not stick his man so tight and give them j's I really also believe that he should've abused the Pacers front-line tonight but I understand that he is a kid after all. I just hope that we can turn this around.

I hate to say it but I agree. The team we saw tonight won't be above 500 without significant strategic changes.

that's cool but the team we have tonight won't be the one that plays most of the rest of the season. kenny, rice, tmo, and mo taylor, four significant frount-court players were out. no guarantee we would have won anyways or even looked better but there is legit reason to believe that we should within this week.

I concede that those guys are out and could have helped but I've personally promised myself to stop playing the injury card.

Everyone has injuries. You have to overcome them and win with what you have. All teams do it...

    Except this one.

Take for example the Indiana Pacers, who were missing their starting backcourt tonight. It didn't seem to bother them.

Well most good teams in the NBA are capable of rallying around the fact that their backs are to the wall, or that adversity has struck.

The Rockets, over the last year, have proven time and again that they go down faster than Monica.

You're right in that we had missing guys, but when will the Rockets ever be able to pull out a gutty win?

Injuries happen in the NBA, and no team will feel sorry for you. Therefore you must be able to step it up when you have a few troops missing. I haven't seen it from the Rockets in years.

Character-wise, this team better do a 180 from last year.

ZRB:- You missed that the point guard became the main offensive attack and left many players just standing arround!

Yetti, you are full of crap.

Francis is the Rockets' best player. He was supposed to lead the Rockets in scoring. He would have had ten assists if his teammates had hit 40 percent of the open shots he created for them. Blame the rest of the team for playing emotionless basketball.

so moochie norris was the main offensive attack tonight, yetti?

AT - you're right teams should be able to play around injuries, but then again this was just one game. if injuries continue then the rockets to need to figure out a better way to work around it. as far as the pacers missing their backcourt, fine but strickland played as well if not better than tinsley and mercer killed us with jumpshots. obviously they did a much better job handling the situation, maybe they have more depth? anyways one game isn't reason to call the season.

What the f*** happened to Eddie tonight??? That was the reason we lost. When he was on the floor it was like we were playing undermanned with only 4 players! I mean, is it his fault or the guards' fault or Rudy's fault? I don't get it. This should have been his coming out party, starting and the Rocks needing MAJOR minutes from him. He was a complete bust, and that's the story of the game, not Yao, who may as well have stayed on the bench for all the opportunity he got when he was in the game. What was it, 8 freakin' minutes?

I gotta call BS on that one. They lost as a team. Francis is as much to blame as anyone. His shot selection left much to be desired. If he is to be the main focus of the attack, I'd like to see a few passes before he shoots. I'm tired of seeing Francis and Mobley working their asses off to create their own shots. Yes, they're good at that. But it doesn't have to be that difficult.

Ball movement. Team basketball. Shot selection.

Leave the street ball for the streets.
