Just curious.... Is he still severely injured or did we panic to place him on IR the whole year. I just remember in Pre-Season every week it was sort of a "Will he play this week?" kind of thing.... And it almost seemed like Kubes thought he could play and was frustrated that he did not. I would have thought if he had a season ending type injury it would have been more obvious. Every week during Pre-Season I thought his return was imminent. I hope we didn't act hastily...cause DD is Jim Brown compared to the castoffs and rejects we have back there now.
Yes, I know he is inactive for the whole year, but why? It was week to week, and then Kubiak just made the call to make it the whole year? Why not put him on the physically unable to perform list and give him until week 6 to see if he can come back? And if it is career ending, or unlikely that he will ever play again, why not just cut him? Very weird. DD
I'm sure you don't want to cut a player who makes a lot due to the big cap hit you get because of it.
The deal was this--DD ended last year injured so if he tried to come back in pre-season and wasn't ready he could go on the physically unable list and not take up a roster spot until he was ready to play. That wasn't the case. DD did come back from last year's injury but got hurt again after his first 1 or 2 practices. Now, not eligible for the 'PU' list the coaches could either A) let him take up a roster spot and wait for him to be ready to play or, B) place him on the Inactive list for the whole season and give his spot to someone else Obviously, the coaches thought any no-name would be just as good and now we're up a creek...Dayne + Gado = 29 yds rushing???
