    Defensive mid tempo

    or Uptempo offense

We need to focus on defense this season with Yao's comeback, and hopefully a signing of another big that can rebound and score as well...

Combination of great defense and mid-tempo offense... The Suns are not going to get far in the playoffs with their up-tempo offense. We won't either if we made the playoffs.

I voted offense, just because I knew the poll is not really all that well thought out.

To me, the answer is balanced.

Although boring, defense is much more reliable.

How about very strong defensive/rebounding team that can get out on the break. See Lakers team last year and the Spurs from a couple of their runs.

Whatever wins...The Rox championship teams weren't pretty but man did they win. The Adelman teams have all kinds of success balancing out great offense with solid defense.

As long as it's a winning team, who cares...

The Rockets with Olajuwon in our first championship year had one play with two options.

Throw it to Hakeem in the post...

...if they don't double him, he takes his guy...

...if they double him, he finds the open shooter...

It's easy to get guys to wanna score.

It's more difficult to get them to wanna play defense.

I'm all for being balanced...so focus on defense.

IMO, it is easier to teach a good offensive player to play adequate defense than it is to teach a good defender to play adequate offense.

Therefore give me offensively capable guys every day of the week.

I'm sorry. I misread the title and thought which team is more fun to watch...

As much as I love watching games that go past the 100 point mark... a good defensive team will beat a good offensive team 9 times out of 10.

What you have to factor in is... shots don't always consistently fall... the Rockets are also a huge "live by the 3, die by the 3" team. What is always consistent however is good defense.

And the way Adelman's offense works... you shouldn't need to isolate and create your own shot.

when i think of good offensive teams...i think of teams like the suns. who have traditionally put up tons of points and only played in one NBA Finals in the last 20 years or so.

when i think of good defensive teams...i think of the pistons. who won titles based on solid defense and very little else....with two entirely different sets of players.

    i'd rather be the pistons.

I'd rather be the Spurs, as much as I hate to say it.

You get group of high chemistry guys, a low post guy who can dominate on the offensive side of the ball, surround him with a play making backcourt, and some solid wings who can defend and knock down open shots, you've got yourself a team.

The Spurs now at the moment? This is their final year for a championship, imo. Duncan, Parker, and Ginobli are all aging stars...

absolutely...if you could have a perfect world, you'd want to be balanced. no question about it.

but if you ask me which style lends itself more to championships...if you have to lean one way or the other....i'd pick defense based on history, alone.

No, not the current Spurs, the Spurs who won titles consistently every few years because they had a good group of core players who worked well together and played solid, fundamental basketball, kept turnovers to a minimum and always played hard on both sides of the court.
