Now that I've fully transferred from my beloved 35 mm Canon camera to a digital (that I love too)...what do I do with 5 rolls of 400 speed 35 mm film?

I know y'all are probably thinking that I should just throw them in the trash, but I'm not one to throw useful, working and practical things away so I'm trying to think of other things.

Give them to a high school photo class? (I dunno where the nearest HS is.) Give them to Eckerd's (CVS) or Walgreens so they can pass them out? Bury it in a time capsule?

I dunno...just seeing what others may have done with their old film.

I've never had old film, but if I did I would just look up any school in the phone book and see if any teachers may need some. Since they have to buy most of their supplies, this would welcome any thing like this.

I have know idea. Don't they have an expiration date?

I recently found a couple of rolls of black and white 400 speed that I used in photo art in high school. I think it was high school. I no longer have the means to develop them myself so I'm debating if I should get them develop. I know they have been used because of the way they are wound back up, but they are not label and that's odd because I labeled every roll. Well, I thought I did. I have no clue what's on them and curious but scared to find out.

Blatz, I tried a few months ago to develop a roll of film that I had sitting around from highschool (6 years ago) as well. It wouldn't come out. I don't know exactly how long it takes for film to go bad, but apparently there is some sort of expiration date.

Take random picture killing the roll, or if you want to go the extra mile, take pictures of two people in bed from outside a window, make it blurry but obvious that its two people in bed. Next send the roll to your worst enemy with a note saying "your lover/spouse is cheating on you, here's proof." That'll give em at least a few days of hell.

Just use it, you might as well. And yes, film does have an expiration date.

Most HS Photo classes buy their film in bulk, chop it up and sell it to their students for real cheap. I dunno if it's worth the effort to give them 5 rolls.

Give them to me. I've been needing some old fashioned film lately... I've got a hankering for old-school photography, but no money to buy the film.

Does unused film have expiration dates? I've developed 2-3 yr old film in the past (we randomly found it) and it came out horrible. This one is only a year old.

meggoleggo-Aren't you in Austin? Don't know how I'd get these to you. I might just call up a HS...just gotta find one.

    Thanks for the advice y'all.

That would be a lot easier with the digital camera.

I'm pretty sure all film as an expiration date, used or not. Like you said, 2-3 year old film probably won't turn out, but you should be fine w/ year old.

Like Eddie said, you can keep film in the fridge to make it last longer.
